I guess my point re the 6 series I mentioned was its a 24k mile car. Looking on AT, it isn't even as dear as I assumed. 50k mile cars around the same age are listed at similar money in some cases. I like the fact its essentially an old school, old fashioned cruiser woth years left. Bought as a 'buy, use, forget about future value ', it might be the nearest thing to a 'new' 2006 6 series drop top you can find, if that's your thing....and it would be mine!! P.S. I am a fan of the 6-series, btw…

Hi miles but a rebuilt engine and gearbox bode well, and it has a very nice Alpina striped interior. The brembo front brakes are always loudly shouted about but can be costly - about £500 for pads and £1500 for discs IIRC*, and a kidney for each caliper. That said, the B10 V8 came with 540i brakes and never felt like it needed more braking power.https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1661312
This is always a giggle when the piddling competition arises between the 400bhp M5, the 375bhp B10 V8S and the lowly 347bhp B10 V8 - Alpina were always known for quoting rather conservative, minimum, figures for their power outputs.

Two things I'd recommend doing to that car for sale;
1. Get rid of the silly add on rubber strip at the bottom of an already pretty low Alpina front spoiler.
2. Change the bonkers 115 degree C electronic thermostat for the 87 degree C thermostat from the E38 740d V8 engine. It is a bolt in replacement that reduces the silly high temperatures and pressure on the flimsy chocolate made plastic and 'o' ring cooling system. You'll need a resistor to put into the loom connector to fox the engine ECU but it will work so much better and last so much longer. The M5's run around that temperature but the Alpina V8's stuck with the silly high temperature thermostat from the 535i and 540i, which were only put there to eek out some economy.
*Edit to add; The Alpina Register has some posts that suggest £1500 for discs and pads in 2013, over £2000 in 2016 and I don't think there will be a lot of change from £2500 now. The reason being is that they are bespoke to the Alpina B10 V8S alone and no one makes any after market pads or discs.

It has a massive spec - I am a 4.8iS beard, and my flabber was well and trully gasted when I read the build sheet. It is well and truly spectacular. It appears to be enthusiast owned, well maintained with all the big issuses recently addressed, and at 77k miles the purchase cost was less than the two services on my Maserati this year... Also, the 4.8iS - BMW got it absolutely spot on. It's the Munich equivalent of your Cayenne GTS... So, kind of barchetta had to do, as his ear was getting properly bent...

I hear you and I kind of agree with you... BUT having toyed with the idea of running a 6-series/M6 as a s
tter/daily I was always put off by the total impracticality of it. It's fecking huge, and yet you cannot seat a family in it. Whereas my umodified daily E46 M3 actually sits the family/MTBs/Tip runs and it would still do a 8min lap of the Ring on its anual trip... What I am getting at, is that although the E63 is a great car, it's a very, very acquired taste, hence the cheap pricing...
