Looks like BMW dug it out of their prototype/design study basement - I wonder if they might dig out the E34 M5 convertible one day?

Pretty as a picture with the roof down...

...but, err, not so much here...

Bonkers pricing....

I can think of so many cars that I'd rather buy for £350k. Or several cars combined for the same price as a Sierra...

We had a Prodrive SportWagon in this flavour - it was perfect for blasts through the Yorkshire Dales and point to point was additively quick and sure-footed.

Hi guys. The 911 backdate is mine. The rear spoiler only really makes a difference for reducing lift abve 80mph. They tend to get a bit floaty without one at autobahn speeds. .
Apologies, I didn't reply, it's good to hear it actually makes a noticeable difference, I've always wondered about the effectiveness of various aerodynamic addenda on road cars when you could for example, get an E36 M3 both with and without rear spoilers etc.

All the best with the sale, it looks stunning.

That 911 restomod is one of the nicest I’ve seen, remember reading the Reader’s Cars thread.

However. Has now got me thinking that I would love a standard looking 3.0SC but with your choice of mechanical modifications.

Although, however, again, I have of late had an unhealthy want for one of these -

And head to -

Back when I had my E30 M3 the 190 was always painted as less desirable, not as fast, harder to tune etc. but now, I don't think that would bother me in the slightest. It'd just be nice to be out in a small sporty saloon!

Pfffftttt.

That is bonkers.

I’d buy a nearly new Range Rover, a Ferrari 550 Maranello & a TVR Griffith & still have change for a half decent GT-40 replica.

E30 M3 has always been on my ‘list’ but I guess I’m getting older and a 190 appeals much if not more now.

There must be somebody that could do some subtle tweaks on one to make it the car I want it to be.

The crazy part is that's barely a fraction of it, he was one of those guys whose brain was so full up of clever that there was no room for common sense.

Whilst having a bit of trip down memory lane I started looking for examples of his Gran's old Corolla...

Was not expecting the price tag on that!

I had a 1980 Toyota Corona as a first car, a gift from a great aunt and in classic pristine old-lady spec. It had a completely rubbish Holden engine (factory fitted) instead of a proper Toyota engine and an autobox, which soured things somewhat. Nice steering feel and decent suspension though.

Now why on earth would you want to drive all the way to Saint Emilion?

I've never driven an E30 M3 but can't get excited by them - I'd much rather have an E36, ideally a Saloon in Techno Violet!

Although I did drive a mate's Mercedes 190e 2.3 16V and was a bit underwhelmed. But not as much as I was by his Sierra Sapphire Cosworth on the Silverstone GP circuit though. Turbo lag made it hard work, until the head gasket failed.

These were rubbish to drive too.

They had a massive T4 Turbo which didn't generate any boost until something like 5000 rpm. This is the definition of Turbo Lag.

Quite a few owners removed them soon after buying and fitted something more sensible [ which means smaller ].

I bought one of these - the T4 turbo only - because I was going to fit it to my xr4x4 Turbo Technics. It had one Turbo only for both banks. That never really happened and I sold it a few years later to someone who built modified Cosworth engines for a tidy profit. He told me it was impossible to source new T4 Turbos because they were NLA. I think he paid me a grand which was a lot of money for a 2nd hand Turbo. I think I paid 250 - cant remember. He gave it a quick visual inspection and felt the shaft for play and then paid me. He seemed quite pleased with it. It was basically unused. I took it to his house / workshop somewhere near Blackpool I think.
