Vinfast, was in Vietnam October last year’ lots of them being used as taxis, talking to the drivers they charged them twice in a 24 hour period, around twenty minutes per charge.

Interiors quite spacious, very cheap feel, lot’s of hard plastics. As a taxi a good choice.

Their upmarket models; seem to take a lot of styling cues from a well known Bavarian motor manufacturer.
...snip...
Not surprising, the company partnered with Siemens, Bosch, Magna International, Pininfarina, and BMW, among others.
Some of the reviews in the west haven't been the best....

Here is a car I have just bought that I didn’t know existed.

Renault Juvaquatre about 1955. After buying it I popped onto the Renault Owners Club at the NEC classic car show. They had never heatd of it either. Are there any others in the UK?

If we're playing automotive Top Trumps, then Willys and Land Rover got there beforehand;
The Willys Jeep is form 1941.

Earlier examples include:
1. Kurogane Type 95, used by the Japanese army from 1936.

2. Mitsubishi PX-33, prototype built around 1935.

3. Mercedes W103 G1, from 1926

4. Spyker 60 HP, from 1902. The first car with 4WD.

Is that a Portuguese or Dutch plate?

Tell us more, is the "quatre" relating to seats, driven wheels, fiscal HP?

Lately known as Dauphinoise after '55 I think, due to adoption of Dauphine engine. What a cracking thing, well bought. I'd get it going and leave as is, looks like it would fit right in in a wee French village even today!!

Number of cylinders.

1920s/30s Renaults were nearly all named '_quatre' for the four-pots (Novaquatra, Primaquatre, Celtaquatre, Juvaquatra) or '_stella' for the six-pots (Monastella, Vivastella, Suprastella).

The Juvaquatre was quite forward-looking in its time, with an early form of unitary construction (really more of a welded-in frame than a true unibody), independent front suspension and the integrated headlamps.

Most of the ones sold were in van or wagon form, and they were especially bought in the thousands by La Poste and SNCF as delivery trucks.

Good info, thanks.

Looks quite modern for a pre-war design, I assumed it was 40s or 50s but they came out in 1936.

Aging Wheels did a video on this that is currently down but will hopefully come back online. But there's a bit on the 2 he's got in his fleet update, 15m 15s in.

That depends if it's been chipped or not.

Re: The ElectraMeccanica SOLO, reading up about it and taking into consideration where it's built, Chongqing; $15,500 seems a fair chunk of money for what it is.

So many new EV manufacturers popping up, I get the feeling there may be a bit of pump and dump going on.

as far as I am award it is a French plate. I have just joined some Juvaquatre forums to try and get more information about it and get it UK registered.

Surprisingly, there are a fair few about, and the owners are quite active.

It really is a lovely little thing. It overheated just as I got home, and I am in the middle of replacing the water pump , which is on order
