Hi everybody,

I'm a car designer based in Surrey and I spend my free time hand drawing artworks of cars. Thought I'd post some of my work here for people to have a look at, hopefully some of you might find it interesting to look at :-)

All of my work is hand drawn on paper, using Copic marker or Promarker pens, with Prismacolor pencil crayons and a variety of pens and pencils layered on top. Each one takes on average 8-10 hours to complete.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for reading,
Harry

They look fantastic, do you just do supercars or anything requested? What sort of price do you charge?

Thank you so much :-) I do anything requested.

I've refrained from making this thread promotional as I know it's not necessarily appreciated on here, but if you'd like to know more feel free to check out the website linked in my profile and contact me :-)

The look fantastic! Can you show us some of your own designs?

Thank you!

Sadly the work I do professionally is under a non-disclosure agreement, but I can show you my final university thesis project which I completed just under 2 years ago. It was an electric racing car made for Ginetta. The pictures below were computer generated renders I did of a 3D model I'd made.

I enjoyed the time-lapse video on your website of you drawing the F1. How many hours of work is that, if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you, I must’ve watched it 1000 times myself! That one was about 8 hours of work in total. I started and finished it in 2 evenings after work.

Awesome! smile

Nice to see artwork using ‘proper’ materials for a change.

As a younger generation car designer, what era of cars do you like most as a lot of your drawings above are ‘older generation’? My all time favourite car is the F40 for example and 90’s cars, but that’s probably a lot to do with my age (mid/late 40’s).

Are you able to set trends for looks in your job, or do you have to follow ‘where the general design direction is going?’ If you see what I mean?

Cheers!

Thanks so much, long live traditional materials - I far prefer marker work to digital work, I might be biased but traditional work carries so much more emotion and interest!

I may be younger generation but my heart is firmly with 90’s and early 2000’s cars... the GT1 era from the 90’s right through to it’s demise is what really gets me going. I guess that’s all reflected in the cars I’ve chosen to show above... Unless I’m commissioned to draw something, I generally chose cars because I like them so much.

From a design point of view, at this stage in my career I’m far too early to influence a design movement. I’m very early in my career but you never know!

You are very talented and your work is incredible. It was my dream to be a car designer when I was at school, but I am as artistic as a blind giraffe.

Thanks so much! I think it was a lot of people's childhood dreams, a lot of people don't realise it's a legitimate career too!
Yes, I suppose a blind giraffe might not be much good at it hehe

My cousin did architecture at the RCA and I went to her graduation show. She showed me round the college, I was blown away by the talent on show and I spent way too long admiring the automotive design department.

Ah yes, the RCA is Intelligent Mobility - quite a lot of people go there!
