Here is my example. I don’t want benefits claimants as tenants. I prove my houses at a level that makes them too expensive for them. I will though drop my price below those figures for a non benefit claimant.
Oh no, as I thought. Way to make yourself look like a fool trying to prove some silly point.Discrimination and the Equality Act 2010 said:
Under the Equality Act, it is unlawful to indirectly discriminate?based on?things like gender, disability or race. ‘No DSS’, ‘no benefits’ or ‘no Universal Credit’ policies breach the act via indirect discrimination, as they disproportionately harm women and disabled people, who are more likely to receive housing benefit.??
Sajjad Ahmed director for the British Landlords Association said:
“Housing is a fundamental right. Private landlords play a more important role today in the provision of housing than ever before. Landlords should not discriminate against tenants just because they happen to rely on state benefits.”
This court ruling has confirmed what we have been arguing – that?anyone who seeks to exclude renters receiving housing benefit?is not just acting unjustly, but unlawfully too.
Outing yourself as a bit of a scumbag here. Perhaps its time to ask PH mod team to trim some posts here This court ruling has confirmed what we have been arguing – that?anyone who seeks to exclude renters receiving housing benefit?is not just acting unjustly, but unlawfully too.
Feel free to continue the insults though. I’ll defer to the legal advice I receive off those in the know though.

Oh dear. You’re a bit too casual with the insults. Putting yourself up as an expert on law in this area after a bit of amateur googling is not a strong starting point.

It's on display for everyone else to make up their own minds. But if this is the behaviour you're suggestion, then I suggest heavy regulation is needed. Feel free to continue the insults though. I’ll defer to the legal advice I receive off those in the know though.

Claims costs are through the roof, that is going to affect prices. Direct line reported losses on their motor insurance of c.£77m today after not rising prices fast enough and getting caught out with higher claims frequency.
Inflation costs are hitting insurers too. Every claim cost is rising. Buildings, Business interruption, personal injury loss of earnings/future loss. Every aspect is subject to inflation. Premiums need to reflect those uplifts.
Added to that it’s a hard market in insurance right now. Not many players or newcomers willing to gamble cheaply to secure market share so premiums are not going to be offered cheaply at a loss.

Just got the renewal through for our Dachshund, and that’s doubled as well, FFS!
Don’t think that will lighten the mood in here.
In many ways though Pet insurance is even less understandable than Car Insurance and don’t get me started on Horse Insurance which makes both of these seem simple.

Just a coincidence that my renewal for my BMW E91 325i is exactly double last year's price
I was very happy with last year's price but nothing negative has happened or any circumstances changed... I will be phoning up and asking why them to explain why it's exactly doubled, almost like they have just added a x2 to their algorithms for fun...
Doing a quick comparison website looks like the cheapest I could get it is around £310 with someone reputable.

Because ice cars wil move from being mass form of transport to a niche hobby
Think that’s probably more years away than you think. But if you’re right then possibly either might lead to lower Insurance premiums for them or conversely higher if Insurers also decide to change their strategies.
Multicar policy. No claims. All same household and drivers. No claims or convictions.
Campervan with three drivers = down 10% from last year.
Low insurance group with three drivers if van plus one more driver = 2.2x increase from last year. Even if I run the calculators with the same drivers there's a huge difference by vehicle.
Add in that on price comparison site the cheap insurance group car is 1/4 what the renewal is on a Multicar.

Absolutely no doubt I could have got it cheaper by trawling the net but can't be arsed with the faff.
My wife's renewal came in this morning, up from £411 to £492(Skoda VRS, she and I and the two kids as drivers).
It took me 10 minutes to run the details by the Meerkats and get a quote from a wartime prime minister for £319 then I phoned her current insurer via a direct line to an advisor and they dropped the original quote by £94 to £398.
I went with that as I like the company (always easy to talk to someone and no silly charges for changes etc)
Boom! Saved £94 in less than 10 minutes of "faff". I don't know about you, but I don't make £540 per hour so it was worth it to me

Just had a renewal come through for my Z4 and it’s gone down £40 from last year
Well, it’s just come through again and it’s not gone down this year … up £120 on last year So not too bad really considering inflation etc
