Yup, about 20% annoyingly - despite a clean driving record since the dawn of time. Like we need more things to go up in price.

I assume that as regards your car value the reduction is not on an agreed value policy but that just reflects market value ?
Not agreed value, but market value yes. Made sense to reduce it as the market has taken a hit in the past year

My policy on my 330i was due for renewal today.

It cost £245 last year and it was £265 this year so I couldn't be bothered looking around. But then I told them about a non-fault claim I had last year. Even though I recovered in full from the insurer of the car that hit me they added another £20 to the premium and £50 to the excess!

Thieving bds. :banghed:

I think I paid around £145 last year with Esure and they wanted £270 this year (no changes from my side). I went through Quidco and went with the RAC for £197 and then I get £45 back from Quidco in 4-5 months time cool

Just had the first of the 4 renewals for our household. The 3.5t horsebox has gone up a whole £8. It's now £287 for a limited mileage (6,000 mile) policy which permits anyone over 25 to drive it.

An EV costs twice, to three or four times more to buy, than its direct ICEV equivalent. Do you believe that insurance companies are going to be able to repair, or replace them, for the same price as a direct equivalent ICEV? Some EVs are written off by insurance companies, after receiving only minor damage.
The money has to come from somewhere, which might be why they are charging all drivers, including those driving ICEVs a lot more money, for no more cover.
Which EVs cost 2,3 or 4 times as much as the ICE equivalent?

The main issue with EV insurance is Tesla parts availability.

My Polestar 2 is £800, the Vantage is £400, both the same mileage and usage.

This year the Polestar went from £400 to £800, the Vantage went up £2.00.

My House & 2 cars with Admiral Multi insurance, went up from £700 to £1100.
Calls hardly budged it.
No increase the year before.
The increases were in the cars.
Compare the Market would have been £50 cheaper to do individually.

Wasn’t worth changing but i’ll look more closely next Feb..

Renewal for my Flying Spur is similar at £650 including business use . I doubt I’ll beat that by shopping elsewhere a quick go on the comparison sites suggest not

This is for my wife's grandad, appreciate he's 80 but it's the lowest miles possible (3k actually does about 1k) and with me on it as I take him to appointments at the local hospital where I can't get my transporter under the barrier.

This is for a 56 plate c class

Never had a claim or and points his whole life

Been with LV= for years, daily’s, home and (classic policies when they had them ). Just got the renewal for my Audi A3 S line & my wife’s trusty old Peugeot. Up 45% !! Last year £451 now £652, did a few online comparison site quotes, every one was over £1000 ?? So it looks as if we will continue with LV=.

When will people learn. Renewal is an opportunity to screw lazy people. It’s almost unknown for a renewal to be competitive, they just hope you will take the path of least resistance, hence the industry lobbying to allow auto renewal.

Similar to my wife with LV, but hers was +68%, to £330. On comparison sites, any recognisable name was over £400, and a lot were £600.

LV did drop the price a few quid when I rang up and moaned at them.

That’s not supposed to happen now with the FCA rules about not quoting new customers lower than existing customers. Indeed it’s suggested that their aggressive enforcement is preventing many people from getting a good deal when they shop around - I couldn’t find any main stream insurer cheaper than the renewal we got.

Mines due in exactly a months time. £192 last year and no changes / points / accidents since. Wonder how much they will increase it.

Been with the same insurer since 2015 and every time their renewal comes in at higher than the cheapest online and then you have to call and go through all that.

Agreed -also perfectly possible that if the unfortunate happens you may still be able to negotiate the previous figure anyway !
In the scheme of things the percentage rise isn't too bad.
I've just paid my renewal premium having been a bit successful on the negotiation - it is an agreed value policy for 4 cars and the increase was just over 11% but the new £5,600 still hurt.

Ouch.

Must be some nice cars there though?

That`s why we have stayed with LV=. For a start they seem to by the cheapest. You can easily speak to a human, get some off the renewal quote.
Did it with the home policy, will do it again with this one.

We have, luckily, never made a claim with LV=. Is there anyone out there who has? how did you get on?
