Mine has gone up by about £70 despite making no claims and an old claim from 2018 dropping off as it's over the 5 year time period.

I can get it about similar to what I paid last year but I prefer dealing with LV in the event of making a claim. Personally I find they are so much easier to deal with compared to other insurers.

I'll probably just call them to renegotiate a better price and accept it. I'm all for saving money but I'd rather stick to a company I can trust from experience

Admiral multi policy here. Renewal was up 50%! (£1250 from £840)After the usual routine some magic discounts applied and now up about 20%. Managed to negotiate the cars to similar to last year but they wouldn’t budge much on home insurance. Original quote had the Maserati at £480 when it was £320 last year (came down to £340 for renewal). Wife’s Volvo didn’t have much of an increase though. Total renewal was £1040.

Admiral went and quoted 500% the price I was already paying for renewal. …. £5,000.

As they were the only competitive insurer for a relatively powerful (for a 19 year old), BMW, I had to go elsewhere and am now paying £3k+ at another company..

Well yes you could, you could be mid 50s.

What's a relatively low crime rate postcode? low compared to the surrounding hellholes? Do you live in the Scottish Highlands or rural Cornwall. If not, again, you could be a safer candidate.

4 year old VW Golf? What, Golf R or GTI? What model? Tracking device and immobiliser fitted suggests it might not be a low powered basic model. So maybe you could be a safer candidate on car choice too.
My insurance quotes have hardly changed from my mid 30s. If Insurance companies don’t trust me to have a reasonable car now after 24 years of driving, then when can I have one? Are we in a race to the bottom where we can’t have nice things?

Its still average or bland car compared to many other cars on PistonHeads, it’s not exactly an exotic supercar. And there’s no excuse for insurance companies to add on an extra £300 for those who can only pay by monthly payments.

So what Golf is it? Not a basic one by the sound of it. You were the one who said you couldn't be a better candidate. Clearly, if you have a Golf R or GTI, then you could be a better candidate. The Golf R is one of the most stolen cars going. Anyone who has one is an awful candidate, regardless of their age or history.

Just had the same from them, 50% increase despite no change in circumstances. I got them down to a 34% increase on the phone and they wouldn’t budge further so I’ll be moving insurers. I can get the same cover for about the same as last year through Tesco

Just renewed on a humdrum day to day car, a BMW 118 automatic, a mighty reduction of £30 on last year, let the good times roll!

Naturally the renewal from my now previous provider came in at a £120 increase, my call to cancel was met with a "let me see what we can do"..... Don't bother.

I’m with Esure I payed £545 last year, renewal came through couple weeks ago at £966. I rang and they gave me a discount of £50 to £916.
Today I did some quotes on confused and I had a quote from guess who, Esure for £650. I rang them again to ask about this quote and after some waiting on hold the lady told me she ‘was having technical difficulties finding that quote and I’d have to ring back another day to get the cheaper quote’, just scammers.

Renewed in Nov 2022 up from £614 to £940 (RS6).

My original insurer's renewal came in at over £1200, cheapest I could get was around £830 (with a black box--didn't fancy that).

I just renewed. Much modified Evo 8, not kept at home address, 987 Boxster S, Mk1 MR2 and Lexus IS300 Sportcross. £1350 all in. Very reasonable.

Then the killer. Add a 2018 Ford Connect and it goes up to just shy of 2k.

Bonkers renewal quote from Coop EcoInsurance on my S4.

Up from £265 to £685. No changes/points/claims.

Even more baffling, Coop EcoInsurance and Coop Insurance aren't the same company. Coop Insurance quote with identical details is £380

Only changed car around 7 months ago so not too much to report. The increase from Golf GTI to VXR8 was about £80 but I have switched (back) to Admiral which seem to be taking a pounding in here so imagine I'm in for some calls/price comparisons come the autumn.

May as well continue the trend. Last years Admiral insurance on MX-5 was £400, renewal came through at £950. Compare the market quotes were all around £550-650 for the same policy benefits.

It's just yet another area in the UK where the consumer gets absolutely shafted. Nothing you can do about it except not have a car.

Also while we are at it, since insurance is legally required in the UK there should be no interest on monthly payments. I never knew that was a thing since I've never looked, absolutely shocking way to rinse the poorer population.

It's well known in the industry that monthly payment customers have a worse claims record than those who pay annually. Plus the insurance company doesn't have the premium from day 1 to invest. Then you have the increased admin costs, and the costs of dealing with defaults.

So the interest charge is absolutely justified.

I’m not looking forwards to next January when all three cars need insuring on the same day.

I picked up three points (SP30) and despite people saying “it makes no difference” I’m pretty sure I’m going to get absolutely rinsed for it (39 years clean licence prior too). I’m probably going to get rid of one of the cars if it goes crazy, and the other thing I’ll do is go for cheaper cover - I avoid the Admirals etc at the moment but beggars can’t be choosers.

My insurance renewed earlier this month. It jumped from £337 to £592, so that policy was cancelled and I took out a new one with my wife's insurer who were competitive, and also offering a £50 multi-car discount. £247 all-in.
