The looks are good, would be nice with a lightweight NA V6, 300 + hp and max 1100kg incl fuel.
Build it in Italy, put an Alfa badge on it, and you’ve got the new Spider.
Build it in Wales and put a TVR badge on it….

My grandad, who fought as an infantryman during World War 2, when I was growing up in the 70s he always said he would never buy a Japanese or a German car. And he never did.

I expect today he would have been called "woke".
I seem to have upset a few people who like to timidly accept the establishment line. That's good if it encourages them to try independent thinking. On this, it is understandable but in reality it is an ridiculous and old fashioned attitude, based on the assumption that the British are blameless, decent and never wrong. Honestly? I'm sure he was a decent old chap, like the old guy I knew who said the only place he would take a Japanese was to a gas chamber.

Britain has done many revolting and brutal things, but fortunately most foreigners don't hold it against us. I will list a few if you would like, but the latest is to supply depleted uranium to Ukraine. (RED FLAG! Don't talk about depleted uranium, don't read the WHO reports, believe the government line that it is entirely harmless!)

I hope that most people have outgrown this attitude, because it makes it so easy for dishonest politicians to mislead them. It is just xenophobia. The Russians are decent people. The Chinese are culturally very different but they are also at root, decent people. (RED FLAG! RED FLAG! They are wicked evil subhuman monsters let's nuke them!)

It’s perfectly possible to respect the people of a country and yet have a dim view of the regime that runs their country.

You are doing most people a bit of a disservice if you don’t think they’re capable of that at least.

People still complaining about weight without even driving it rolleyes

Remember, this is an EV so the majority of the weight is in the lower centre floor section, with little hanging over the wheels.
It will drive completely different to any ICE car..

What do you mean by completely different to any ice car? How will it be different to drive to say an mx5?

Even if an ICE car and EV were the same weight in an EV the mass is all in the middle while in a front engined ICE car it’s hung out front, creating a greater polar moment. It’s also likely to be higher resulting in a higher centre of mass. This all affects handling. It’s why all formula one cars are low and mid engined for example.

Even if an EV is heavier, this inherently better weight distribution goes a long way to allowing it to handle well.

A truly mid ‘engined’ EV (in reality mid ‘battery’ could in theory be even better and this is what Rimac and Lotus are doing.

Thanks. Are there examples of these ev’s on the road and their better handling qualified by respected journalists?

Well, not only is the MG4 one of the cheapest EVs on the market, it’s also one of the most rewarding to drive, apparently.

I appreciate that you have a new in your bonnet but the reality is that the Chinese car industry has been hoovering up large amounts of European senior management for over a decade.

It's also worth noting that the team behind these MGs is based in London and apart from the comedy named Willy Wang, you won't find many Chinese workers to have been involved in these cars until it comes time to assemble them.

Ultimately, it doesn't really matter what your slightly uncomfortable personal view is, car manufacturing and assembly has been heading East for decades and you're not going to stop that. The likes of VW will continue to move more and more production East and all the senior, educated industry workers will keep moving East with that.

The Chinese aren't daft though. If there is high demand from true customers in Europe who don't want to buy a car that's been touched by Chinese hands, they will offer a cleaning service to get rid of those inferior finger prints. smile

Well he’s not a traditional journalist but if anyone knows a good car on the ring it’s him (he’s normally in a GT2RS)

Strange post. As our business deals with China a lot you’re way off. I was commenting that MGs are a bit crap. And probably will not handle like a Taycan. Sorry if that triggered you.

No, you weren't. You were banging on and on and on about China. You very clearly have an issue. It's boring. You're boring.

No, you’re just odd. Very odd.

So far we’ve had this EV is almost as light as a GTR, and EVs could be made to handle better than something else. Pointing out that something EV shaped made by the Chinese is unlikely to match an ICE’d roadster…isn’t a stretch.

Hope your evening gets better.

It’s not the first thread you’ve been triggered by a poster mentioning Chinese products. Have a drink. Maybe green tea?
