I find it interesting to read about how many folk track them really, because in my head they wouldn't be a go to car for me for track work. I can imagine them blasting through a forest rally stage for sure, but a tarmac track not so much.

In saying that though, one of my mates did used to love throwing his Mitsubishi Evo 8 around Donington Park though years back in fairness. I used to absolutely love driving his Evo(and I'd go as far to say that it was easily one of the best cars I've driven), so I'd imagine that I'd love driving the GRY too.
I have no interest in tracking mine.
Have been Very fortunate to have done plenty of Motorsports in the past, so thankfully since 2015 i finally got all that out of my system,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but,,,,,,,,,,,,, i still like the add hoon here and there hence the GRY [and a modded Lotus Sunbeam wink].
I suspect if i was to track it, i would want to mod it, another good reason not too.

I have had 2 Evo's, a 6 and an 8, both grey imports and bog standard, as is my GRY, tremendous cars. The GRY is even better and can do 38mpg on a run, if your feeling boring.
Try one, life's too short not to.

I was hoping that there would be someone who has had both an Evo and the GRY, because I have been wondering how they compare.

The 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder engines from that era were thirsty sods for sure, and I also remember my S14a 200SX getting through fuel at an alarming rate too. Plus it needed servicing every 6 months/6k miles, and that sounds crazy nowadays I reckon.

Absolute fking wkstains.

I don't have the last one because I couldn't have one of the last ones, I don't have the required amount of limbs for a manual transmission.
I never realised that was why you have that username. I always assumed it was a reference to getting pissed!
Yeah you’re not alone in that, quite a few have made that assumption hehe

The real question with this is that is it worth kicking up a fuss to try and get a car, or just try and get a Corolla GR form Japan when they inevitably put the autobox in that too.
Go to the Daily Mail.

I'm sure a hard hitting article detailing your sadness accompanied by a picture of you holding a prosthetic leg and pulling your best 'compunsashion' face would do the trick with Toyota HQ biggrin

I can just imagine the headline now, and it wouldn't go my way hehe

In the grand scheme of things I know it's the most first world problem imaginable, but still. I was really looking forward to it.

I’ve done a few track days with a GR Yaris alongside me. Haven’t been a passenger or anything but it is seriously quick, helps the driver knows what they are doing. Completely different style to my M2 as it’s so grippy and chuckable.

I know the Audi RS cars get a bad rep on forums but honestly they are brilliant to drive. The new RS3 is a smashing car!

I think the majority buy an GR Yaris, RS3/4, M4/2, Gulia Quadrifoglio etc is really into cars and cares about driving. If you drive one and don’t enjoy it or can’t have fun in one the problem is you not the car.

Where I think the GR Yaris maybe gets it tight is that it’s compromised as a hot hatch that does the daily driver stuff. I know I could make it work personally but for some it would be a massive turn off.

Think we can all agree the price is a tough pill to swallow but then all new cars are silly prices.

I’m just glad they make the GR Yaris. Certainly on my radar for a next car.

In the context of the GR Yaris a racetrack is pretty much just somewhere where you can drive as you like and not get in trouble with the law or other road users. It's a "rally car" so would be best on a gentle rally stage but they're pretty rare so a tarmac track it is!
