Probably needed to boost the power so it wasn’t outgunned by a mid range Kia EV (at least on paper).

The price seems to have doubled in the past 20 years but has everyone’s salaries also doubled?

I was at Geneva the year the original Vantage V8 was unveiled and I remember both my wife and I were bowled over by the design. This seems too fussy and a bit too in your face for me.

Does the base Aston really need 656BHP surely all they are going to do is take sales from the DB12.

Undecided on the looks as well, front looks like a fish.

I'm glad the article headline says "new". Otherwise only die-hard fans would have even noticed.

I think I’m probably alone in this, but I prefer the original design of this car. It was much more futuristic Aston and less pipe and slippers aston.

But a near £200k sports car (inc options) and it has an auto gearbox?
I'm not keen on the looks, and the wheels look comically large to my eyes.

As for the gearbox, I assume you would rather a DCT? A common complaint of the previous one but honestly I always felt the 8 speed ZF worked great in the Astons. Quick when you want manual mode and around town far better behaved than the Ferrari DCT

Personally, I think this refresh is a huge improvement and makes it desirable again. I preferred the old model (particularly the V12) to the 2018 Vantage. Something just didn’t work styling-wise.

I can’t wait to see these racing at Le Mans….

They’ve really thrown the kitchen sink at it, haven’t they. Personally prefer the looks of the previous car, and whilst the interior is massively better, it still looks over designed to me. I miss AM doing elegant.

One other thing, and this bothers me about the BD12 also, is how the radar unit breaks out of the shape of the grille. Surely on this it could sit a few centimetres higher so as to be unnoticeable. A designer will have penned that shape dozens and dozens of times, and they stick a black plastic box on it.

I was hoping to.like it but it's not for me.

To my eyes it's far too busy and over styled at both ends. Added uncohesive aggression appears to have been the brief..

Its definately got presence but all the aggression looks ott on a car of this size and looks a bit vulgar and cartoonish to me..

Each to their own and I wish them every success with it but I do hope they make something classy and beautifal again in the future

Lovely profile, still retains a good stance, and the interior is finally resolved and befitting of such a chariot, but the detailing is too vulgar for me with its gaping grille, black wheels and charcoal diffuser. It’s a car for Stella drinkers, not St Emilion, and if that means I’m in the pipe and slippers camp, then so be it (although I own neither). This does nothing for me. A Ferrari Roma is - to me - more elegant and classy. So is this car’s predecessor. This - to my eyes - is just shouty new money.

That said, I hope it sells. We need Aston Martin to succeed.

I like it, and if anyone's been on the configurator I think Aston should be applauded for offering some decent paint choices!

It looks better as a racer than the photos in the article, but I'm with HorneyMX5 here. Every sports car seems to have gone for headlights stretching up over the bonnet and they all look a bit odd to my eyes, the notable exception was the F Type that went the other way with its facelift. The Vantage is no different and I preferred the earlier front end too, it looked far more sporty (FWIW I also prefer the DB11 nose to the DB12).

This facelift version looks like the front and rear from two different cars were grafted together. I've always been on the fence with the One-77 that seems to have inspired this, but at least that car looked more cohesive.
The new interior is lovely though.

If you watch any of the videos that were released last night, Simon Newton from AML explained very clearly that the ZF box was retained, but modified, even though a DCT was also considered. The reasons given were the torque output of this engine, which is 800NM, and the brief breaks in drive associated with a DCT, which he said could unsettle the rear. In answer to the post regarding the black plastic radar unit, have you looked at how Ferrari “integrated” it in to Roma? Vantage at least has it in the middle. I’ve never been a great fan of the previous generation car, mainly the front and the interior, but this latest version certainly addresses those criticisms. I think it looks superb and I hope AML sells loads of them. My only worry is that there seems to be quite a lot of overlap with DB12 which may hamper overall sales. I guess we will know more when the driving reviews appear in a couple of months time to see how different Vantage actually is. Very well done AML.

Looks great. Not that keen on the colour but I think in most others it'll be a real head turner. Interior looks near perfect. Decent seats, buttons, screen. I hope they've finally nailed it and this does well. If I was in the market I think I'd have this over any new Italian or German 2 seater.

All that was needed really. Anyone know if this Revenant frontend replacement is still available?

Styling wise, I don't think they've upstaged my 2013 Vantage just yet. I'm not even sure it would be as much fun to try deploying all that power on my favourite B roads either. And what happened to that promise to "always have a manual on offer"? I guess that was the now much maligned Andy Palmer speaking, so it can be dismissed.

I do think it's an improvement on the current model, particularly the front end, and the performance stats are impressive. That said, you'll need deep pockets but once behind the wheel, probably worth every penny.

I think they've done all the right things - improved the power and most importantly the interior and shifted the price to a higher bracket.

They're clearly not going to sell as many of these as they had first intended, as this sector of the market is not so strong and there are a lot of players now in it, so they might as well maximise the profit on the cars they do sell. Whether all this will guarantee their survival is still unclear....

That has to be an improvement.

I actually don't think this is an improvement on the the "old" one at all weirdly. I remember it looked ok when they launched it but I think I've just got used to the normal grill on them now and this looks very pinched.

As for the update, it's certainly a challenging look from some angles. Dare I say there's a hint of DB5 from those headlights in the low front 3/4 view?

It's not immediately a pretty car but just it does certainly look purposeful. The updates under the hood and inside all look brilliant.

Interior is a huge improvement. I hate the original interior.

Exterior change are good too. Makes the car as a whole a far more appealing package.

However, it looks like it has wheels 2 sizes too big. They're huge !
