Interestingly, the other 2 seater roadster with merc running gear (that i’m most likely going to move on to, after our AMG GTC) is only 1600kg..

Said it before but the natural successor to the first AMG GT is not this lardy arse offering from Mercedes but the new Aston Martin Vantage. (Imo)

Yes yes, i know its a tad more expensive..

I'm wondering what sound that AMG GT can produce, I guess its a bit more glorious then say the A45s?

Quite, tbh i’m not even acknowledging this particular abomination.. and when they do put the correct engine in, its the old GTRs 570hp and gains 300kg silly

Like someone said AMG branding has been diluted and syphoned by Mercedes, AMG themselves have only ever made two cars and they proved very effective at what they can do vs Mercedes, this car and the V8 is by no means an evolution of the old car unfortunately, they really should have called it a completely different model, something like an SLC .

The old GT/R/C etc sits alongside the SLS as great examples of what AMG can do, shame it wasnt taken on to something in the same direction but i guess it’ll preserve the old car in a similar vein to the SLS

Pretty sure this four pot is still made by AMG, not much dilution there given the bonkers output and engineering and the fact one engineer still 'signs it off' after production, just like they did with the big v8s?

AMG themselves have only ever designed and produced 2 cars in house and were assembled in Sindelfingen I believe.

The new GT and this derivative are the design work of Mercedes and assembled in Bremen I believe.

Both Of the in house designed AMG models (SLS / GTR/C) are very different this car.

It's the engine, not the car I'm referring to.

I’ve not mentioned engines at all smile

But yes, all the AMG engines are assembled at Affalterbach.

Quite, sort of ok in a hot hatch but this?

Tbf even their 4.0tt doesn’t sound brilliant, not many turbo V8s do.

Talking of noise.. the 6.2 SLS Roadster has my interest alongside the new V8 vantage, they seem a bullet proof bargain at the moment to me and I’ve never had the 6.2 n.a

Sorry man, misunderstood your post. I thought you were suggesting that I thought the car itself was an AMG product as your post came right after mine. Take it easy, gbn

If I had the money I'd buy a bare bones straight six version of this. Just strip out all the heavy st from it and make it a 'clubsport' edition.

It’s not exactly polishing turd territory but there’s only so much you can do with the sound of a highly strung turbo 4 pot. Probably fettling the exhaust system pays most dividend for a throatier sound and the odd fart or pop. But glorious it won’t be.

I geus so, although they als can fiddle a bit with the aircolector/inlet filterbox and so on.

I don't think they gonna let it sound like say the A45 car? also wonder how they let it sound in the Lotus Emira i4

In the emira it sounds nicer than in the AMG A45, but it's still nothing like as nice as the V6 version of the emira.

It's a surprisingly good sounding i4 in the Lotus.
