I know that different people have different tastes, but how can anyone say that this looks hideous?!?
The lights and grille give this a kind of sad grouper fish appearance, that's fine if you like fish.

A yard isn't anything like a "meter", (gas water electric) it is however similar to a "metre"( S I. unit of measurement) One being 36 inches the other 39.37inches, Google inches.
From a handy little poem I was taught in primary school around 1970:- "a metre measures three foot three, it's longer a yard you see" , crap poetry, but I remember it (and still use it) 50 odd years later.

Can’t think of many things I’d want to do less than drive a manual fwd 4-cylinder diesel.

Suppose it could look interesting but of course it’s black inside and out. Dull, dull, dull

I had the V6 petrol 3.5 for a couple of years and liked it. Yes, the front is ungainly compared with the back, but it was nice inside with heated leather seats and a decent stereo. The available colours were limited - mine was grey - but the occasional red one looks good, but only ever seen diesels in this. It only needed usual consumables but the petrol consumption wasn’t great and when the road tax started to get silly I decided it was time to offload. Dealer I p/exed it to thought it was worth much more than the lousy trade in price he gave me. Not surprisingly he still has it.

Unusual and a bit different I suppose.
But, being a Renault, it'll just be a bit crap.
Yeah. Renault are well known for being a bit crap… rolleyes

I have one of these - the 2 litre petrol version.

Not the best car I have ever owned however its fairly comfortable, quite quick, quite thirsty.

And, apart from a smooth gearchange, that's about it.

A fairly nondescript French coupe.

Before I bought it I briefly drive a white 'Monaco GP' limited edition coupe.

Utterly ghastly thing.

The paintwork had flecks of something or other that twinkled in the sunlight. There were Monaco GP tags all over it.

The interior was horrible.

Awful thing. Gave it back too the dealer after 10 minutes as I was embarrassed too be seen in it.

Would I buy another one? Absolutely not.

Always loved the look of these when they first came out. Compared to the SUV mania we have now this is a proper car but sadly their like seems destined for the history books

I had one of these before getting a 635d. I should have kept it longer. I regularly had positive comments about it and have never agreed with negative comments on its looks, I thought it looked awesome.

It was a black GT 180 dci 4control Bose and Sat nav, and really nice “camel” leather. It was a great car and I only got the 635d as i got a good deal.

Had one in this exact spec, I’d have this tomorrow if I needed a car.

Enough power and the 4 wheel steering made them a cracking way to get down a b road in comfort

But do you regret swapping it for the 635d??

Not a bad looking shed and much more cohesive than the Peugeot 407 coupe

The whole car thing is subjective, right?

So - quite frankly, I can't think of anything much more dreadful: electric Smart, perhaps... Or a Citroën Ami; I would like to burn them all.

Sorry if I offend.

There's not much attractive about that, other than it's guaranteed future rarity.

Front end looks similar to the long forgotten Renault Fluence, or Flatulence, a car I only know about because one of them lives a few miles from me.

The 635d was obviously a better car, so I don’t regret it (I kept the 635d longer than any car I’ve ever had). However, the coupe was a really great car and if the 635d had not been such a good value car at 2-3 years old, I wouldn’t have left the coupe. I loved the rarity.

The 4control steering was really good too, as mentioned by multiple posters.

I am a serial French car shedist, and as others have said post 2007 (and definitely with the MK3 Scenic, Megane and Laguna) build quality and reliability are really good.

It does seem that a lot of people instantly dismiss these "because French" and still believe that all French cars are rubbish. Probably the same people who constantly go on about "German Reliability" and "Teutonic build quality" and conveniently forget about stretched timing chains and using oil.

I think these still look good and for £2000 are really good value. I have a January 2011 Renault price guide in front of me (told you I like French cars!) and the on the road price for this car was £25000 with another £460 for metallic paint.

I can't have one due to ULEZ but I would happily own the 2.0 petrol turbo version, but these are like hens teeth.

For £2K you could do an awful lot worse and the 2.0 DCi engine is brilliant.

I don't really understand the hate to be honest.

I like it but needs to be petrol now. If you don't currently live in or near a ULEZ zone you will soon.
My last 2 diesel sheds (A4 1.9 PD and Saab TTiD) both had to go when I found myself living in one. It's not like they were amazing cars or anything but they cost buttons to run and I was hoping to get moon mileage from them both (235000ish) but fell a bit short.
