RE: Renault Laguna Coupe GT | Shed of the Week
Discussion
It was quite an achievement (and not a little bonkers) to take a decent size family car, try to turn it into some sort of GT, remove its capacity accommodate more than two people and put a diesel engine in it. What was the target demographic? Enochlophobic taxi drivers?
Vive la difference I guess.

Not a fan of Renaults at all and haven't driven French diesels since mid 90s Peugeot 405s (which were fantastic)
This looks ok however, it would be perfectly good as a runabout. If you got 2 years out of it without big bills it would be acceptable, anything longer than that and its a win.
I find that I am much more tolerant of cheap cars than I am of more expensive ones. Posters who cry "not with a bargepole" are missing the point of what a shed is about.

I liked these, but this era of Renault was a nightmare from a reliability viewpoint, based on experience with two of them.
Thought the MK3 was supposedly reliable? At least a stload more than the hysterically unreliable MK2?Anyway, I like them so there.

Hideous. No redeeming features at all.
A bit like your overly occasional negativity Last thing I am is negative.
I thought I was a glass half empty kind of guy, but your glass doesn't seem to contain any drops at all
FWIW I think these have aged pretty well. The VED is a bit steep for a diesel, but most are these days. Makes a change from the normal Volvo, Rover, Saab type entries.....
Can't remember the last time I saw one of these then by chance passed one on the way to the train station this morning coming along the Great North Road in Newcastle and then see this!
Astronomical odds!
I do like a frenchie and their quirkiness but this just looks awkward to even me!

I ran one of these for a couple of years (albeit it the V6 diesel with 4ws).
Liked it very much, comfy, fast and reliable.
I think these look better in real life than they do in photographs.
Mine got lots of positive comments from the general public at the time, I recall one kid walking past and pointing it out to his Dad and saying "wow looks at that. That's a proper car" (and no he wasn't being sarcastic).
However having said that it was about 10 years and it's not a style that has aged well....
