Have little feelings towards or against the car. But might be the only person so far to wanna say how little I like the comic shed stuff. Unlike the post mistress it does nothing for me so i tend to skip past it all.

It was quite an achievement (and not a little bonkers) to take a decent size family car, try to turn it into some sort of GT, remove its capacity accommodate more than two people and put a diesel engine in it. What was the target demographic? Enochlophobic taxi drivers?
Well done - this is the second best usage of the word "Enochlophobic" I've seen today.

Last week's shed was excellent.

This one is a turd. I can't see much going for it at all, it doesn't even look particularly nice. Like an Alfa 147, or a Fiat Bravo, just meh.

I forgot it was Friday today until I read Shed just now. Very enjoyable read with the humorous innuendo - the load insertion reference was gold. I think it is a great shed too, fuel type aside. Slightly odd ball and very different, but all the better for it.

Not for me as diesel, CAR gave it an interesting review.

'Intolerably hard ride quality spoils everything else'

What can be done to make it soft and have that nice French way of effortless wafting?

Diesel coupés are weirdly incongruous.
And the heeoooge front overhang is unforgivable.
And how the hell does it resemble an Aston Martin?? confused

Anyone who thinks that looks remotely like an Aston Martin must be on the waiting list for cataract surgery!

Must admit looks FA like an Aston not even with a squint, but for £1995 who cares if it more resembles a tank.

As someone who's had quite a few french cars this is fine for a shed run about.

Unusual and a bit different I suppose.
But, being a Renault, it'll just be a bit crap.

Softer springs as per the article, at £16 each?

Pretty car.

I'd avoid the diseasel and row your own gears though. This is a GT not a sports car (if we are being generous).

It's a nice-looking thing, if not as successful as the 406 coupe from a decade or so earlier.

It also looks in good fettle and is a bit unusual to add to its appeal. I never really saw the Aston comparison myself but good shed notwithstanding. It could be lowered to aid its looks, but why would you bother?

Waiting for the wisdom of 'Escort-SI 130' as his anecdotes are almost as entertaining as the Mrs Shed stories hehe

The SOTW spot remains by far the most entertaining and humourous writing to be found on the web - a joy to read!

I liked these, but this era of Renault was a nightmare from a reliability viewpoint, based on experience with two of them.
Thought the MK3 was supposedly reliable? At least a stload more than the hysterically unreliable MK2?

Anyway, I like them so there.
Yep, this era of Renault was great for reliability and build, it's the late 90's with the mkII Laguna and early 2000's with the Megane and Scenic, things improved dramatically from circa 2005 onwards with facelift Megane, Scenic and Laguna II and then Laguna III.
The Laguna 3 is a solid car. My parents had one for 14 years, they only sold it due to ULEZ. The only replacement part outside of normal servicing in 14 years was new gas struts on the boot lid. It was still on the original battery and light bulbs it came with.

(Their car was one of the very first of them too, registered on the day the Laguna 3 was released).
