Mention the word 'Integral' in the first paragraph and then don't include the iconic Integrale anywhere in the article.

What a blunder!

F40 is pretty much unusable due to value etc.

Quattros were great in their day, a bit barge like now though.

944 Turbo is a lovely thing, but the polished wheels of this one make my teeth itch.

Never quite got the Skyline vibe, must be difficult to find unmolested ones.

Would love a RUF. Just not one based on a Carrera 4.

So it's the Esprit for me!

Funny how in the eighties having a Turbocharger was a massive deal, remember going in my first turbocharged car, a 1.8 Nissan Sylvia auto next door had just bought new, felt amazing.

I expect nowadays more cars are turbocharged than not.

My old S14a 200SX helped me fall in love with turbos(especially after I'd tuned it up a bit). It just felt so strong in the mid range, and that wasn't something that I'd been used to with NA engines in comparison.

biggrin Always loved the looks of Esprits, but the ride height looks wrong on this one. Seems like it's got budget tyres on it too.

My introduction was a new E reg Saab 9000 owned by a friends dad. I remember being on holiday in Norfolk and him overtaking streams of cars on those long straight roads. My dad had a beige 1.6 Sierra Estate so the Saab felt like a missile. Was hooked ever since.

Yeah, spoils you for NA cars to an extent, I had a Turbocharged Saab, only a 150 bhp LPT one but it flew, was ready to buy a Clio 182, almost new in French Racing Blue just like I had been waiting for, had a go and it felt flat as a fart without that low down torque coming in, didnt buy it, bought another Saab Turbo.

Anyone else Have a Selle Royal "Turbo" saddle on their bikes in the eighties ? I saved up for ages for one, was the finishing touch on my Peugeot.

Could add a few more from the lower budget end, Saab 900 turbo sprang to mind along with Renault 5 GT Turbo etc.
Guess there's loads, bigger the turbo graphics down the sides the better!

a mate used to run an esprit turbo 4 pot and a 911 carrera 4s, guess which one was unreliable?

I used to go on that website, searching out my dream Esprits. That must have been about 15 years ago. Would love one but of course the reliability issue scares me….

I don't know any owners who feel that way and the only way to actually enjoy driving them, when they come alive, is to wring their necks! They are SO good it would be an absolute travesty to not drive them.

Good to hear. It's the outlier of the bunch though which will cost a huge amount to own. Watch the recent Tyrrells Workshop for an indication. No problem if you can afford it...

You mean Ketteringham Hall, the then home of Team Lotus with all its associated F1 shenanigans? That thoughtless location?
Yes. It may well have been “ the home of Lotus F1 “ but what other manufacturer would chose such a drab background to shoot their “ Fast Car “ outside…..

First turbo car I owned was one of these

First one I drove was one of these - went through fuel and oil at a tremendous rate

F40 for sure, but also the R32 ( R32 the one that actually was called Godzilla ) which for a tenth of the price of the 911 could drive circles around the Porsche.
