So no more AJ-V8 engines after the current Defender V8 stock dries up.
Yes, that's my assumption too.

Launch the new engine with an expensive halo variant (probably at £200k) and quietly discontinue the beloved supercharged V8. Get the old one whilst you can, it's not long for this world....
Not so sure about that - I'm running the S63 in my X5 and its a spectacular engine - full of character from the cold start right through the rev range. If that's what the Octa is getting (or even better the mild-hybrid S68) then I'd be looking at this as a serious piece of kit to be doing the family daily duties in.

This "octa" signature graphic... am I missing something or is it just a square inside a circle?

Yet another ludicrously fast 4 ton 4x4 that won't fit in any carp park or multi storey. 'Cos sure as eggs are eggs, they won't actually go on grass, let alone off road. Why do we need these, apart from "Because we can"?
Don't get me wrong I love it, but I must be missing the point somewhere. God I hate being old..........

You could add that they think people will buy them, but that’s a good enough reason.

At least it doesn't have those stupid lunchboxes nailed to the side, like so many.

What is that all about?
Presumably, because it not intended for the school run, but it will be, it will be.
