I feel slightly for the journos reviewing this car. The words and phrases to adequately describe the acceleration are so overused as to be useless at this point. There's nothing i can think of to prepare you for how brutal the assault on your body is.

I genuinely want to care and yet the only emotional response that bubbles to the surface is “nice purple”. Am I broken or is motoring a largely emotionless Willy waggling tech fest. Maybe a bit of both.

If a genie granted me three wishes and they had to be car related...........

1. Stop EV production
2. Only allow Italians to style cars
3. Nuke the Nurburgring

(Tongue firmly embedded in cheek before all the usual suspects with a sense of humour bypass get to their keyboards)

Neither is my missus, and it would need 700 miles plus on the range at the very minimum before she'd be interested. I wouldn't mind a go in one of these for a nip around the block before the battery went dead though for sure. biggrin

I'm definitely in your camp regards the Nurburgring, even with ICE cars as well. I just don't understand the point of the place, and I can't say that I know anyone with a race circuit in their back garden either.

Car manufacturers set cars up at the Nurburgring, however when you get to use them across roads in the UK, the cars end up rattling your teeth out...because we don't have any smooth tarmac in the UK in comparison.

For context, our Nissan Leaf at max regen only takes 35kW.

Ironic statement given one of the more remarkable aspects of living with a Taycan is the way it soaks up crap roads like little else. See the end of the video I posted above.

Yeah it was just a bit of banter that's all. However all the BMWs I've owned have had a rock hard ride though in fairness.

I need to give one of these Taycans a try really, because I genuinely never hear a bad word said against them from either the owners or the reviewers of them.

just listened to an early Chris Harris CC podcast saying selling cars like this (he mentioned the Rimac) to a youtuber with a few quid but cant drive for st will end up in him killing himself and others...BUT on the other hand leccy cars have been quick for years (Model S etc) and I have no clue if the stats correlate or if accidents have increased by dicks in cars who can do 60 in under 3 secs...confused

Well the bad bit is that as "new tech" you know it's going to be superseded, in BIG steps, with each generation, even facelift. Like a CPU. It's hard to love like a great ICE. At least for the foreseeable future. Conversely and personally I feel each new generation of ICE is now getting worse; it started with autoboxes, then 4wd, then turbos, then fewer cylinders, now hybridisation, and the weight is out of control. The new C63 is a miserable 4 pot and weighs 2.2 tonnes WTF! Yes BMW ride quality is something else these days; I had the misfortune of getting a lift in a mate's M2Comp recently and it was just like being shaken along in my 964RS, a car famed for having a miserable ride on the road, even by 90's standards!

The thing is though, you watch the video reviews and without sound it all seems pretty sterile. Although I appreciate the physical experience is quite different.

I love this but after years of superbikes the acceleration does little for me, but I get that marketing is important. Hopefully someone produces a less bloated Taycan in the not too distant future. With the rest of the Germans going hybrid it could be a bit of a wait…

Couple of things here. This is significantly (like 50% more accelerative!) to 60 than a well ridden superbike. It's even quicker to 100 which is nuts. If it were as easy as saying, "it accelerates like a superbike" then lots of people would know how fast it is. There really is nothing that hits as hard as these things. 0-30 is like you just got rear ended by a truck. Up to 60 is full on then after that then yeah you've felt it before on a superbike. (IME in the current Turbo S. God knows how crazy this new one is)

To be fair to Porsche the facelift Taycan has a significantly bigger battery and weighs (a tiny 15kg) less but yes I agree weight is the enemy, always.
