Much better that Alfa go out of business then we can remember the good old days.

Or just maybe they could try building cars that more people actually want to buy and they can then indulge the enthusiasts (who tend to talk the talk but not buy) with sporting cars.

Porsche have thrived despite being an SUV and EV manufacturer that also makes sports cars.

Do Stellantis make any class leading cars?

I don't think they even get close.

If MG were to follow suit and resurrect a name from the past for a small car, the logical choice would be Midget.
Then we would really see mock-outrage.

Quite, but also the point. The Ferrari California was not built in California. The Superamerica was not built in America, super or otherwise.

I don't see it as much different from the protected status of foods, Stilton, Champagne, Parma, etc. That's probably what the Minister had in mind.

Coming soon, a Slovakian built Land Rover named the Solihull.

No, they would have to resurrect the MG Montego (bay) for full on outrage. Would be funny though.

Also not the point. They named their car after Milan to emphasise their historic links to the city. It's a bit of a kick in the teeth to their employees in Milan to have named it after the city but not make it there, or anywhere else in Italy. It's literally the only model they don't make in Italy.
That's very different to being an Italian company, making all your cars in Italy, and calling one after a place that isn't in Italy.

The article headline deserves more credit too beer

I wouldn't say no to a Ford Lotus Cortina, you had better sit down before you see the price.

O/T.

The chap who wrote 'Walk Like an Egyptian' bought my flat in Highgate with some of the royalties.

Carry on.

Everyone seems to have an idea of what an Alfa Romeo is and should be and its usually some romantic image of a sportscar.

But, car companies cant keep going if they dont want what people actually buy and realistically, though a lot of folk would love a sportcars, they are largely useless as a car, for what most people use them for.

They have made trucks in the past and a fair few quite ropey cars on and off, Lamborghini and Porsche have made tractors, and they are all making electric cars.

Things change and adapt, if they dont its more like a bloody religion than a car company, history is littered with defunct brands.

It doesn’t look ‘that’ bad at all, it looks pretty decent if anything!

It’s what it is.

All of those were built in Italy.

That's what the story is about, it's built in Poland so the Italians don't like it.

Didn't know this was a thing in Italy. Good on them for forcing home grown products as it were.

There's a Peavey (American company) loudspeaker called the Sheffield.

All of Marshall's (British amp company) bluetooth speakers are named after places in Britain (Stanmore, Woburn, Acton etc) but built in China.

By rights it shouldn't even be called an Alfa, never mind 'Milano'.
