RE: 2024 Audi S3 | PH Review

Using an inflation calculator this car should be approx £43k from the original S3 price list from 2002. Audi taking to piss as usual.
That assumes no manufacturing cost increase. Clearly every modern car is far more advanced and complex than the ones twenty years ago and therefore (obviously) more expensive, even accounting for inflation. I personally don't want one, but to say this is overpriced because it's beyond inflation increases is either misleading or simplistic.

I'm not into VW engine codes particularly but haven't they been pumping out a 2 litre 4 pot with around that much power for over a decade now?
The EA888 has been in everything from VW to Audi to Seat to Cupra to skoda to porshe (the entry Cayenne) hatches, SUVs, saloons and if I am not mistaken mentioned in the Doomsday book I'm not into VW engine codes particularly but haven't they been pumping out a 2 litre 4 pot with around that much power for over a decade now?

No 5 pot.
Not the top of its particular tree.
And its £50k.
A35 AMG is just shy of £48k, with the A45 being at least £63k, for reference. What were you expecting it to cost, out of curiosity, and what other cars would you consider which offer similar performance, practicality etc for considerably cheaper (it'd have to be considerably cheaper, otherwise you wouldn't have put the laughing emoji). Not being argumentative, just curious to know what else is out there. BMW M135i seems "cheap" at £42k I guess, although that isn't AWD.Not the top of its particular tree.

Looks wise I don't mind it. Understated and relatively classy, compared to its rivals. That's where it ends for me. Completely nondescript, nothing really making me want one. Another PCP car. Still, at least they're still being made.
For just a few grand more, you can get a 5.0L V8 Mustang. I know which I'd prefer.

I had a brand new TTS in March 20 and to replace it with lesser specification as they were being run out was an extra £15K, which was just nuts. It was a damn good car, but not that good and the same applies here.
Audi are repositioning themselves and the danger is they will alienate too many customers and end up in a no mans land.
If you really want a S3, but one after 3 or 4 years.

And yet you can order a Mini Countryman for easily £58,000.Audi are repositioning themselves and the danger is they will alienate too many customers and end up in a no mans land.

Yet it wouldn't see which way an S3 went. Everything is over priced.

I just don't understand these warm hatches. £60k on an A45 makes more sense than £50k on a S3 although I still think you'd need your head examining.
There's nothing at all special about this car. You're paying atleast £15k for a remap and a few plastic badges IMO.
