I'm not a fan of the brake regeneration aspect in the EVs I've driven(it just spoils the whole smoothness vibe that EVs are mainly known for), so unlike the author of this article...I'd actually prefer that it isn't aggressive in these to be honest.
I can't stand the daft front end nose diving that EVs generally tend to do, however I appreciate that I could turn the brake regen completely off altogether in an EV though(and I would if I owned one I think).
They are smooth if one drives accordingly and have good throttle control.I can't stand the daft front end nose diving that EVs generally tend to do, however I appreciate that I could turn the brake regen completely off altogether in an EV though(and I would if I owned one I think).
As for the front end suddenly diving I can only assume that is operator error.

Think the government should factor in a vehicle’s weight when the road tax calculations are made.
Agreed. Not to mention HOW an EV is made. UK taxpayers are subsidising EVs made in China, a country who built more coal fired power stations last year than the rest of the world put together, and whose energy make up is 70% fossil fuel. You couldn't make it up!Don't forget that a percentage of China's emissions are making stuff that much of the West have offshored to China. The manufacturing of that stuff isn't going to be repatriated as Jo public will not pay the additional cost.
However you wrap it up EVs end to end emissions are less than the equivalent ICE which is hardly surprising as their efficiency starts around 90% against the ICE barely 40%.
I suspect road pricing will be with us in the next decade but it will not be weight based.

I have a Macan S 2.9 twin turbo V6 and it's awesome
I won't be buying one these POS's though.
Bring back ICE.
You can go into Porsche tomorrow and buy a brand new ICE Macan and will be able to for a number of years so ICE hasn't gone anywhere. I won't be buying one these POS's though.

My Macan GTS was good the Taycan was just better.

Porsche have already said that they have done very well on the take up.
Lack of noise on hear and in other places makes me think that is not the case.
I'm not sure PH'er are really the target market. I suspect this will sell really well initially, my OPC said they have a full order book and its not had the official launch events here yet. Its seems like the target market like it and its step above a Tesla (which are common as muck here) and other VAG brands. Lack of noise on hear and in other places makes me think that is not the case.
They also said interest in the upcoming Cay/Box EV is very low however. So it seems EV's have a place.

Wrong. The last order for ICE macan will be end of 2024.My Macan GTS was good the Taycan was just better.
Who wants an electric car anyway. Rubbish.
Why sell it under the same demarcation as the ICE variants? I appreciate the Macan is a popular car and a recognisable name for Porsche, but is it really that hard to mix it up?
Literally as simple as
Macan-E = Electric
Macan = ICE
Name stays alive, but everyone knows at a glance that a Macan-E Turbo is an electric variant.

Your welcome to your opinion but it is just that, your opinion.
I enjoy the convenience of mine and the Taycan was just better than the Macan GTS. My opinion of course.

2400kg!!! That's really heavy.
The Tesla Model 3 is 1740kg, the Y is 1909kg. 500kg less!
I much prefer the interior in the Porsche, but I couldn't justify the additional weight, which I imagine will impact efficiency. It will be interesting to see if this can come anywhere near the efficiency of it's Tesla competitors (of around 4 miles / kWh).

I think they've done it pretty well and they'll sell a lot of them, I suspect. The interior looks a good place to be for a passenger with their own personal ipad thing, and that might sway a few buyers if their spouse has a big say in the car choices too. I'd have this over any of the BMW EV offerings certainly.
"Sell' ? At 95k for an EV SUV that looks like every other EV SUV? They may lease well if monthlies are reasonable to people who really want a Porsche.cerb4.5lee said:

the 'turbo' badge on the boot - I mean really
I can't lie...and it threw me off initially when I first spotted the article too! I'm old...so I still associate a Turbo badge with an actual turbocharger(or 2) for sure. Plus I actually stuck a turbo badge on the back of my S14a 200SX(in the same font as an old school Porsche 911 Turbo), because I loved the fact that it was turbocharged.
Fair play to Tesla, at least they are honest with 'dual motor' badging and such like.

The 992 model 911 had turbocharged engines but the base models were not named so and of course many diesels have turbos but no mention anywhere unless one looks into the detailed specification.

Are you suggesting there's nothing wrong in the taxpayer subsidising Chinese EVs? I'm amazed you can't see the irony.
Can you be specific as to how the UK taxpayer is subsidising Chinese EV production? It is a subsidy for a product wherever it comes from. We've also been giving tax breaks to the fossil fuel industry for decades and we are not adverse to giving other foreign companies a few bob to remain in or invest in the UK.
Welcome to the real world of global competition.
