That looks fantastic, especially in red with the white seats.

PH front page is littered with 2.5-3t wker tanks and yet what people moan about is the low-slung lightweight (for an EV) saloon. Go figure

I can't be bothered to read pages and pages of people (presumably) slating off the fact it's electric. The thing that bothers me is the looks. If I saw one in the street, I wouldn't be able to tell it apart from any other Model 3. Why does it look so boring?

That and the Model 3 still isn't the best proportioned car out there. The roofline is weirdly high, so the glasshouse looks too tall for the body.

It’s a less interesting, inferior version of the Vauxhall Insignia. Boring car for a new generation of boring people to drive.
And aerodynamically they are both 'back to front'. The optimal subsonic shape is bulbous front and tapered tail, just ask a raindrop.

It's bizarre that EVs are stuck in the conventional car design mould.

Drag coefficient of under 0.22.
Adds between 5% and 8% to the range, depending on driving conditions and air temperature.
Could be described as boring.
Could also be described as interesting.
Depends on perspective really.

Obviously there was a bit of that, but it ended up being a very entertaining/amusing thread in the end yesterday I thought. Plenty of fun banter for sure. smile

And I can say with fingers firmly crossed behind my back no alcohol was involved.

Maybe manufactures feel it would be too risky to push the design envelope too far and this one measures well from a drag perspective. It also has to be buildable economically and comply with crash regs, pedestrian collision regs. etc.etc. In other words it quite complicated.

I think that picture needs to be pasted on pretty much every single thread as it sums up most of the discussion in this place... wink

I cannot help but wonder whether many (note: not all) of the "usual suspects" would communicate as per their chosen forum-persona (dismissive, brash, rude, roffling until a little bit of pee begins to show, etc.) in real life.

Anyway, the Tesla: appears to be quick. I'm sad they removed the indicator stalks. (I run a Model Y, so speak from experience.)

Considering it’s an BMW M3 rival it’s spot on for weight.

I try to imagine I am talking to folk in person, and would they snot me if I said what I was typing ?

I have seen, years ago, at a car meet two posters who had "Beef", they were OG you see,....but they hadnt met and had been slagging each other off and arguing for months on Scoobynet, it was very frosty at the start but they apologised and hit it off really quite well, disappointing in a way as was expecting a ding dong.

Ever seen that video of the two dogs snarling and growling at each other with a gate in between ? The gate is a sliding type and is slid from between them and they are then nice as pie, here it is,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn-mSHceYYQ

This is the more confrontational posters, and the gate is PH, when open, that would be in person "Ohh can I get you a pint Mr GT9, why that would be lovely thank you Mr 996, shall we get a room", ok, maybe not the last bit....

Similar to how a weedy 10 stone desk jockey can be double hard bd in his car dishing out gestures, which evaporates when they get out, similar also to wearing skin tight Lycra in public with no undercrackers is fine (sort of...) when on/or near your bike, the further you get from it, the more of a deviant you feel. Learnt to realise when you are in a car, forum or man made stretchy fabric and behave accordingly.

Exactly this for me. Simple really: be kind and respectful. Sadly, such simplicity seems to be a lost art in many places.

This looks like a much better proposition than the original M3P which was too similar to the dual motor/long range model. You are now getting something noteworthy from your +£10k rather than just software unlocked motors.

Hopefully they've improved the performance at higher speeds as well since apart from off the line, I don't think there was enough difference again to that dual motor/long range model - at least evidenced by watching drag races on youtube...

Seats look good too!

I feel like they changed the other models to make them looks less like the M3P rather than change the new one to look more differentiated from the old one. Noting the air guiding vents, the upgraded brakes/calipers, rear carbon spoiler and 20” wheels are still the main differentiators plus a couple of extra things.

It's a tragedy that this got lost in the noise as it made me laugh!

I'm also puzzled by the alleged link between boring people and owning an EV. I have no interest in an EV but I really am quite dull, so that screws that theory.
