Technically interesting. But as some have noted here, physically and socially ugly. Better to buy a Tiguan and 911.
Except anytime you need to carry more than 2 people. Or any decent sized package, you're left driving a VW Tiguan.I know it takes all sorts and live and let live....
I consider myself a petrolhead, but the best word I can use to describe these (from the manufacturer's perspective) Urus', Bentaygas, DBXs etc is...... cynical.
And just a bit obnoxious, really. Sorry.
Nice little earners though so what do I know.

When I was a kid a Lamborghini Countach with 400bhp was other worldly in terms of power and performance.
Now we have 4 seat family cars with 800 bhp.
It's all gone a bit OTT hasn't it.
I recall a relative getting Merc with 300bhp, couldn't believe it at the time especially when anything around 150bhp was more than respectable. Now we have 4 seat family cars with 800 bhp.

But, you're right it seems nuts these family cars with such headline power figures, then again 2.5t to haul one probably needs a fair proportion of 600 or 800bhp to have good in-gear acceleration times.
Electric and hybrid SUVs now appear to start with a 6 digit price, incredible how average earnings have not kept up with average cost of cars.
Also incredible how a 6 digit priced car used to be something special, (ferrari / lambo / Mclaren / Aston martin), now extremely ordinary looking cars are in that price bracket.
For my £120k a lightly used Mclaren 720s seems to be sweet spot, for practicality, efficiency, looks and performance.
800bhp and oversteer on demand in a 2.5t SUV, I suspect a few of these to end up rolled and upside down on the otherside of Cheshire and Surrey hedges lol Ostentatious and lairy, just what a Lamborghini should be so no complaints there. If these are the company bread and butter and it keeps the v12 hypercars rolling out then so be it, no different from the Cayenne being the saviour of its German VAG sister.

Is this hybrid version basically a VW product with some frills and an exotic name?
No.The entire model range is basically a VW product with some frills and an exotic name.
So, a VW badged Audi, badged Lambo?

Impressive performance figures for sure, but for far less you could have even more impressive performance figures and still transport the whole family + luggage. My Rivian has 835bhp and 910lb/ft of torque. But it's not a Lambo. Of course I'd rather have one of these.
O/T I quite like them, what one have you got?TX.

Always thought it looks a bit vulgar compared to the rivals. Never understood the fast SUV. Surely SUV is more about comfort and usability and not outright speed.
They are for the Cheshire set (and Essex) to show their neighbours how rich they are. Rangies are too cheap now.Charlie_1 said:

I understand the hate for these, however I think they look surprisingly good in person.
I also think this one in orange looks rather nice as well. I'd never buy one nor be in the market for one but they're catering for demand to continue building their more interesting cars (which I'll also more than likely never be in the market for but can enjoy looking at).

Perfect example of envy in print
Straw man argument. It is possible for somebody to dislike an expensive product without it necessarily being about envy. I strongly dislike the DBX, but being a 3-time Aston Martin owner I can assure you it is not envy, I just don't like it (but I do accept is is fiscally necessary for the company).
This car is a VAG product that has been dressed up for the sake of people who want a posh badge on their car. Pointing that out is just a statement of fact, the size of the wallet of the person making that statement doesn't make it any less true.
There was one of these in bright yellow in the car park of the country hotel we were staying in earlier this week. When she saw it, my wife burst out laughing. 'What is that!', she exclaimed. I told her and also what it cost new. She shook her head and said 'I'm so glad you have nothing to compensate for, dear'.
Went past my local Lamborghini dealer on Monday.
6 Uruses in the showroom in a range of retina singeing colours.
No cars in there though…… Is that modern Lamborghini?
Loved Lamborghini as a kid. Couldn’t care less about them now.
Edit - I’m sure they don’t care about that one bit
But would like a Diablo or Murcilago if my balls dropped.
Edit - I’m sure they don’t care about that either….
