The one they had on display was locked so I didn't realise they had scissor doors which is a bit unnecessary in my opinion.
The scissor doors are a clever solution because the Cyberster is actually really big, F-Type size, and conventionally-hinged doors would be awkward when parked due to their sheer size.sidesauce said:
Mazda doesn't sell enough MX5s for anyone to care.
Eh? So what's the point in this car then? The MX5 is the top selling convertible. If Mazda "doesnt sell enough".. there is no way this thing will either. You would have to be slightly mental to take this thing over a MX5.

It's not a bad looking thing and I'm glad it exists but I think I'd feel a bit of a knob owning something with those doors. Having watched the Top Gear review just now they also seem to take an age to open. I'd be standing there counting the seconds until I could climb in and drive off in embarrassment. I think I'll pass and stick with a Boxster.

Exactly. An MG with scissor doors is just embarrassing. Leave that to supercars. It's all a bit Aliexpress....
This gives me weird feelings..
I love roadsters..
I love MGs and had a heap of F and TFs..
I love any doors that open vertically..
But.. This will be heavy, won't make the sounds I typically love and I'm not sure vertical doors 'work' on budget cars..
Eitehr way I'm so close to putting in an order, It's probably as close to traditional MG as the brand has been since being bought by the chinese and no k series headgasket to blow. Can't be bad, right?

Encouraging that Tom Ford said he didn't really miss the noise. Looks like it would be fun to punt down a country road on a sunny day.
It's a pity the European legacy manufacturers have been beaten to it, but kudos to the Chinese for making an EV that celebrates driving as a fun activity and doesn't look like a suppository.
As for all the people saying "I'm a true enthusiast, though, so I'll choose ICE because weight/noise". Great. Enjoy your classics. That's won't be a viable choice for a new car soon, though, because climate change.
Is that the same Tom Ford that compared this to the MX-5? When this is double the weight of the MX-5! Laughable really for me. This is about as sporty as me wearing a tracksuit in my 50's!

If I could get one of these cheap through salary sacrifice then I definitely would I reckon. I genuinely can see it selling really well to be honest(and I see loads of those little EV MG SUVs around as well). Plus this is a 100% more interesting than something like a Tesla for example as mentioned. I love roadsters..

When I was watching that review I was expecting the interior to look a bit cheap and nasty, however I didn't get that vibe, and I thought that it looked nice inside in fairness. Obviously I could be wrong on that though, because it is difficult to get a feel of the details just from a video I think. Even though I'm not an EV fan, this definitely interests me because of how different it is in comparison to a generic EV saloon for example.

Is this the final nail in the coffin of 'modern' TVR and their aspirations to create an EV sports/GT car? (yes, I know they can't even get an ICE car in production)
Final nail in the coffin? The coffin is fully nailed, six feet under, rotted and the top collapsed so there's a small dip in the grass at it's headstone.cerb4.5lee said:

That's the funny thing really.Definitely more interesting to me, and as much as it misses a lot of points for me, it's the best of a bad bunch it seems
I can definitely see it selling well; many more people simply want a fast fuss free sports car as opposed to someone like me who will take a sports car on track, cares about how it sounds and handles etc..
Faced with needing a relatively small daily - I'd have one. I just bought a ranger raptor for the same price, but I did need the space and payload, so I just don't really have the justification for the MG...
yet...
