Are those people saying they're too young for a Jag also including F-Types, iPaces, F-paces etc in that, or just the older saloons?
The whole brand has always whispered “Beige/Werthers/Trilby/Golf Club/Garden Centre/still wearing a face mask” to me regardless of sports car/saloon/SUV.

So the dealer wants to make a profit on the car, rather than getting rid at auction, but illegally leading a private buyer to believe they have no consumer rights because it's a px to clear.

As others have said, the dealer likely knows the cause of the EML and are trying their luck.

I've actually just bought one of these (I'm 39 btw) and am quite enjoying the comments, the stereotypes are particularly amusing! Mine is also in a very similar shade of boring but does have a large redeeming feature in the form of a 400-odd horsepower supercharged V8....

Is it just me ( fellow posters usually respond with a resounding “yes”) or are these beginning to look a bit old?
An old looking motor for an old looking bloke.

These grace the car parks of nurseries nationwide, quietly sitting there whilst the beige wearing owners browse the rhodendendrons and settling for a slice of lemon drizzle with an earl grey.

Retirement is grand
Beautifully described!! laugh

I too had one with a supercharged V8 when I was 37.

It was very fast. Much faster than the numbers suggest, mainly because it can't get the power down off the line. It was fun and it was excellent at crushing miles as well as being quite naughty when opportunity presented.

I would also say that they are surprisingly cheap to run (if you ignore the fuel guage). On a long run down wasn't too bad but if there was traffic on the motorway and you came into stop start traffic, you might worry if you've got enough fuel to get to the next exit.

I would happily have another.

Read the relevant paragraph again. This time with both eyes open.

I can vouch for the 3.0 diesel reaching 60 in 5.8 seconds, in 'S' guise. This shed is a petrol.
This one does it in 7.9secs.
The only way a 234bhp diesel example is getting to 60 in anything starting with a 5 is if you pushed it off a cliff…. probably a good idea for this one.

Or maybe the writer meant km/h? scratchchin

One for the 70 year old golfers I think
The S had 275 bhp.

This was mine.

I am 85 and consider myself too young for a Jag. I am looking forward to when I reach the right age in five years time.

These drive really well.

EML's on, but you won't know why till you read the code(s). May be an easy fix.

Rotating vents not working can be a simple or more complicated fix. Once you've got them open you can turn off the rotation so they're always open.

17" wheels so it'll ride smoothly & you won't be busting sidewalls on potholes like with the 20".

Doesn't seem to have driver memory seat but does have cruise, rear parking sensors & HID's. Can't tell if it's got heated seats but if it's got the stereo line in it's probably got the great OEM B&W system.

Get in front of it & it & it may be a bargain.

Always loved a cream leather interior with tasteful wood, much better than the black, biscuit box plastics in a Tesla that scratch every time that you sneeze.

Nah it has the standard sound system. The B&W one has little "Bowers and Wilkins" badges on the midrange front door grilles (by the door pulls). Check the 21st picture on this ad: https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/16462156 (or, click here: https://img.pistonheads.com/LargeSize/jaguar/xf/3-... )

To be honest, I thought the rotating vents were typically fairly reliable - they might break, but seemed to largely keep working.

Also, from Sniff petrol's book, it seems that when testing the roto-cock gearknob, JLR went out and bought a 2L bottle of cheap coca-cola from the shops. Doused the mechanism in that, let it dry out, and tested it still worked: test passed!

Having literally a couple of months ago got rid of a dying XF-S Portfolio for a Tesla Model S, I've not noticed the plastics in mine being scratchy per se..?

Cheers. Yeah, I didn't check the pics. My XF d S has the badges.

And more importantly it has 444 lb/ft of torque & RWD.

Comes off the line properly sharpish & will spin the rear wheels for a moment when the 2nd turbo comes in.

I had one as well from new , 2.5 years and 70000 miles absolutely loved it Very underrated at the time I think and now Jaguar now no longer stands for anything. The diesel S would be a great shed

Yes, all true ….. the S might just scrape into the high 5s as Autocar suggested in the comparison test with the 535d with some tweaking of their normal way of recording acceleration times …….

……but the article actually says
“ The 3.0-litre V6 wasn’t a paragon of refinement but its 234hp did deliver smart performance highlighted, or highlit, by 0-62mph times that started with a five…..

I’m also 51 and getting a Jaguar in a few weeks time.
I technically owned an XJ8 when I was in my late 30s. Bought it very cheap for a banger rally but whilst it ran I loved it!

These are on my radar , a dark red/ maroon version with dark leather and a Turbo V6 diesel is my preference.
But I have yet to try one to see if entry and exit is a problem for my ex large knackered body .
I’ve got a 2019 V6 diesel ‘sportbrake’ and whilst not particularly large, I am particularly knackered! Getting in and out is no issue - and the car has a decent turn of pace on it, handles well and somehow rides very well too. It is a big old beast when it comes to parking mind!

As mentioned before, this is my old car before punted off- the head gasket is gone, it smokes like a beagle. The vents were working, this may have changed in the last year though. The wheels are deffo not 17" though, 20" and thin AF.
