That Skoda badge appeared in my rear view mirror a week or so ago and I thought to myself, here's a bolshy grey head without his feking caravan... I put my foot down a bit to leave this pesky old, sandal wearing, friend of the earth behind and he came with me...I dropped a cog and gave it some more but he kept on coming... as we were running out of good road I pulled over and let him pass....VRS were the letters on the back....a skip with an engine in it..

Made my old TVR S3 look a bit tired...what is this world coming to....

I think they are a great Q-Car. I used to do a lot of business with Skoda, and was impressed with the engineers and the cars too. I drove a VRS on Czech roads (whcih are crap) and the ride was a bit harsh, but I still rate 'em. Reminds me of the Volvo T5, those who take the micky don't know much about the car....

Alas! the name is synonymous with naffness

Had a look at one of these last weekend. The outside is DULL but inside is very nice. Intesresting 'mesh' seats and lots of familiar VAG parts. I liked it a lot. But then I got out and it just looks soooo DULL!! The old one was much nicer looking. Probably a better drive than the old one though.

My brother has just ordered one of these, in black as well. I'll be interested to have a go in it, and hopefully if it's any good I can buy it from him in two years. Brothers rates of course

Our Vrs Skoda's, both marked and unmarked cars are at the top of the list.
They are much better than the Mercs, and run a close second to the Volvo T5's we had a few years back......the omega's we don't talk about.

Wow, a time traveller from the '80s! You've mastered this interweb thingy awfully quickly. Well done.

Such as? The only equivalent at the same price is the Focus, with similar spec, and is a smaller car.

Focus ST-3 from a broker is the same price as an Octavia vRS from a broker, and it's not THAT much smaller.

The Octavia takes it's wheelbase from the VW Golf, so you'll find that rear legroom is very similar to that and therefore also the Focus (infact the Focus could just inch it).

The main difference is that the Octavia has a longer rear overhang than the Golf, giving it a much bigger boot than it's class rivals and making it appear a bigger car overall..

Are the Octavia's "Played with" in any way?

If not, they should be

I think they are standard. Sometimes suspension is beefed up a bit due to the amount of gubbins that is stored in the boot, but I don't think they are chipped.

Look around, and you won’t be able to find an equivalent car for such, and I hate to say it, a bargain.

Focus ST?

Focus is a touch smaller though isnt it,

Yeah, and the Focus is a touch faster! Still equivalent in my book.

Hells teeth, I bet that goes well, the standard ones are good.

They seem to go a lot better than the golf gti 180bhp equivalent.
