RE: Wrong Fuel
Discussion
I have to agree with regards to BP Ultimate. I pulled into a service station off the A19 and picked up the pump which simply said Ultimate; to be completely honest I didn't even realise BP did unleaded in the ultimate range. Sufficed to say about 13 miles down the road I realised something was amiss and pulled over. The AA were about as much use as a chocalate fireguard and point blank refused to get me home (I was 70 miles away!) as they have rules about this kind of thing. I've covered over a million miles since passing my test and used to wonder how anyone could use the wrong fuel, not anymore though. There are some interesting characters on here, I hope it never happens to them as its not as hard as you think. According to recent stats over 600 people a day fill up with the wrong fuel, so much so that the AA have a specialist patrol whose job is to deal with this (Fuel Assist). The AA abviously realise it's a problem but leave the exclusion in their breakdown policy buried near the end of the T&Cs. I was lucky enough that it didn't damage my Bora (you can't beat German reliability) and it cost me £250 including the 140 mile round trip for my mechanic to pick me up and get me home. I'll stick to V-Power Diesel in future and stay well clear of BP.

wtfWhy the hell have BP got to be different ?
All other petrol stations have green pipes for unleaded and black ones for diesel.
It IS annoying, and likely to be confusing for a lot of people.
You also end up shuffling around the forecourt because of the poorly marked pumps.
Get your act together BP !

Could be worse, my local petrol (tesco) station randomly closes pumps off with petrol or diesel or both, so as the station is next to motorway it gets extremely busy. So you have to queue for a pump and get there to find that both that pump and the one in front have diesel capped off and petrol only. Other side of same pump has diesel working.

Just FYI, there is a V Power unleaded aswell.I have been driving for 20 years now and not once have i ever misfuelled any car owned by me hired or a friends car not even close and i have had my fair share of bad days some dire but i can still focus on which type of fuel to put in my car. I also worked in a busy petrol station for 6 years for Tesco selling 3 tankers a day , in which time i was astonished at some of the things the public would do wrong fuel 2 a day on average ,smoking while fuelling, cars still running, mobile phones,
jumpstarting at pumps ,getting there child of 6 to fuel for them, filling milk cartons with petrol, locking themselfs out of car,and neverming the apple box full of filler caps left on the roofs of cars that fall off the first corner, the list is endless.people dont think before they do things these days the world needs to slow down big time.

What A Bunch of Dumb Fg Idiots, is it really that difficult picking the correct fuel pump in a petrol station.
If drivers are that oblivious to the world around them, to put diesel in a petrol car and vice versa then they should not be driving a car. tts

It's not exactly rocket science is it? Sniff the filler cap as you remove it if you are confused!!!!!
