Andrew, If you use a 10w-40 semi synthetic you will need to change it every 5-6k to get the best out of it. Or you can use a 5w-40 full syntehtic and change every 10k. Cheers Guy.

With low mileage use, where you don't achieve the mileage interval, what time interval do you recommend for full synthetic? It's annually with mineral oils. Just wondered if synth had an advantage here too? All the Beast Leo

We recomend that even synthetic are changed annually if the mileage is not met. Cheers Guy.

Ok, for the VW I think 10w-40 is fine and a cost option, I'm unclear on the Synta Spec but if it's ACEA A1 or A2 then you could consider using an ACEA A3 oil as it's a performance spec and better for hard driven cars. You could always use a 5w-40 synthetic in this car as an upgrade. The Elise I would difinately recommend a decent fully synthetic 5w-40, if it's driven hard or track consider the likes of Silkolene Pro S, Motul 300V or Motul 8100. You'll find them all here www.opieoils.co.uk Cheers Simon

Just double checked this and your car requires BMW LL01 which is either 0w-30, 5w-30 or 0w-40. Hope this helps Cheers Simon

Hi, You can use a 10w-40 semi synthetic changed every 5-6,000 miles or you can use as a quality option a 5w-40 full synthetic changed every 8-10,000 miles. We rate Silkolene and Motul as tops. Cheers Guy.
