Seems my old Golf GTI 16v hasn't been retaxed since 2005. Either someone's being very naughty or it's died.

Likewise my old Rover - 2006.
Likewise another Golf - 2002 (so not since I sold it!)

My old 52-plate S3 comes up "cannot be found". Guess it's either now on a private plate or has died?

What does unlicensed mean ?

Untaxed - the tax was due on 1-8-2003, so its most likely scrapped.

hi all, i was wondering if any one could help me here, im trying to trace my dads old ford capri sport Mk 3, ive sent a letter to the dvla and their no use, on their car checking site it says date of liability, 01/11/2001, and the status is unlicenced, im trying to trace it to see if it still exists and to possibly buy it, the car reg is A567 XWJ and it was white, little else is known as he sold it when i was born and sadly he died when i was 6 so i can ask any questions about it. if any 1 can be any help or if any one on here owns it and could let me know! thanks very much.

If the date of liability (Date the last tax disc ran out) was in 2001, then there is a high chance the car has been scrapped, unfortunately.

Just checked my old Focus which I wrote off in 2007. When I tried to buy it back the insurance company told me 'its not allowed to be repaired due to the damage. We cant sell it back to you'.

Its Taxed til the End of March 2010.

Alot of people are looking for old quite specialist cars, if someone is still driving them today, they'll know what it is, if you know what i mean, hence probably being an enthusiast. After seeing if its still alive i'd look to owners clubs, especially if its a capri you are looking for, they have a capri register don't they?

Hi I have been looking for an old Audi Coupe I sold in 1996, and found this thread!!

Looked on HPI and the car is still showing as clear, no scrappage marker.

However on the DVLA site recommended on here the car is showing as unlicenced since 01/02/2000!!

My first car is still sat in the yard at home. Cars 2 and 3 were sent off for scrappy and car 4 has appeared on the DVLA site as 'unlicensed' since the dealer I part-ex'd it for sent it through the auctions.

We were watching the program recently on TV, about who's responsible for bike/car accidents. When my girlfriend spotted our old car!

The buggers were hitting cyclists with it and everything. We sold it 3 years ago now to a young girl, I wonder how many times it changed hands. I'm assuming they used it due to it being not road worthy anymore.

Although it says: Date of Liability 01 09 2010, so I assume its still on the road!
