WHERE IS IT NOW? Try to trace your old car
Discussion
If details don't come up on DVLA then it's generally that it's had a Certificate of Destruction issued. With anything that went in scrappage scheme or has been scrapped at a more thorough recycling centre, they issue a CoD.
When you had the option to scrap cars years back by just declaring it as scrapped by ticking the box on the V5, they seem to have left them in the system. Newer stuff with CoDs issued seem to get removed from the database.

Really surprised to see my old Mondeo has only just been MOT'd.
Thought R512 KBM, would have given up long ago.
Interesting. Well my parents Calibra 16v had engine problems in the few years they owned it from new in 1991 so must be long gone nowThought R512 KBM, would have given up long ago.
edit: Should have quoted 4F6
jesus,
I must have a fatal touch, every car I've owned is now a tin can
that also includes my last car that I wrote off last year
correction one of my old taxis lives on old 06 plate Vectra is hanging in there with 4 days mot left and tax expired by 5 days
last saw her 2 years ago with 350k on the clock

Checking that RAC link, my old Impreza is on there with "last owner change" shown as the date I bought it in 2001. It was written off in a crash 3 years ago...
likewise, an old Minivan ,circa 1970 , written off in 1972 .Couldn't find data, but wanted £14.99 to get buyer's data. Surprised to discover a horribly bad early Volvo 440 we had new in 1989 lasted until a couple of years ago.
It had so many defects and so much replaced from engine management to brakes and even bits of interior trim in its first year that I was convinced it would have a short life.
And a 1992J reg Renault 19 owned back then by my mate as his first new car was still living until recently. I saw it parked up in"as new" condition.

Just ran all my old ones through:
Escort 1.3LX - no mot details held & no tax since 1st January '04. I'd guess at definitely dead / scrapped before DVLA system changeover.
Renault 5 GT Turbo - Still taxed & MOT'd until November this year. Nice to see that one still running.
Peugeot 106 GTI - no mot details held & no tax since 21st October '05. I'd guess at definitely dead / scrapped before DVLA system changeover.
Peugeot 306 Cabriolet - MOT expired 11th August '14. Tax expired 1st March '14. No SORN declared.
Caterham R300 Superlight - No details held on the system for the reg plate when I owned it but when I sold it to a new owner via Caterham South back in January '07 the dealer said the new owner was either putting it on a private reg or shipping it overseas so that likely happened before the DVLA system changeover.
Renault Clio V6 - MOT expired 10th June '13. Tax expired 1st June '13. Probably due to the new owner fitting his private reg as that ties in with when I last saw it sold via a specialist trader in June 2013.
Ford Escort RS Turbo (Series 2) - MOT expires 9th March '15. Tax expired 1st November '14. No SORN declared.
Lotus Exige S - No MOT details held. Tax expired 1st December '09. Probably best explained by the new owner fitting a private plate before it's first MOT in 2010.
Citroen Saxo VTS - MOT expired 1st October '13. I had it on SORN until I sold it in December '14. It would appear the new owner still hasn't bothered to re-declare SORN, after it expired when i sent the V5 back, so he's going to be getting a fine soon.

I don't think I've seen any Renault 19 for at least ten years. It had so many defects and so much replaced from engine management to brakes and even bits of interior trim in its first year that I was convinced it would have a short life.

I also can't remember the last time I saw a Volvo 440.
So I have been trying to find my old car. It's the only car I have ever really loved and what her back.
I emailed the new owners a year after I sold it but they told me it was too late it had gone. They didn't tell me where it went.
I have just done another check and it's not been taxed or mot'd since 2011.
HoW do I find out where it is or if it's been scrapped.
P91 VBM vauxhall Vetra 1997
Please let me know if anyone can get me info on my baby.
Thanks
