Fairy Muff

I'll still tut and subtly shake my head when I see yer car though

Fine by me

Tonker, erm...what is it?

Its what many cut their teeth on - a Metro - although that one seems to be some sort of post Aston Metro

A metro was my first ever car - surprisingly nippy!

I know what webers are

Still not sure whether to just go for the ultimate chav machine, the Saxo VTR, just for the performance 0-60 in 9.1 seconds

Whenever I see a Focus with alternative indicators/lights etc I just thing 'twat'.

I think that attitude is unfair. People do all sorts of things to make their cars look nice; what's wrong with changing the lights? Do you think the same thing about 911s with different light covers? And were you not recently asking about putting larger Audi TT wheels on your Golf?

Arguably, buying stuff like 911 GT3's falls into the same category. You could of course even extend it to rebodied cars such as the DB7 Zagato, just adding new bits to the same chassis to change the looks, but most if not all people say "wow" when they see one, not "ooh, look at that chavy piece of tat"

Sorry, but can we get back on topic? I just don't want this to turn into a big debate about bodykits or modifying cars

Oh, and tonker, I think they are painted drums but look like discs due to the angle of the camera

You'll never get a decent lay driving a chavwagon.

If that doesn't change your mind, nothing will.

Comparing the geniuses at Stuttgart and Milan with some spotty oik with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Halfords catalogue is a little foolish.

Fair response, however, if you notice, I've used OEM wheels from the VAG range.

I haven't changed anything else, and I worried and pondered over it for a long time.

I'm not saying that Christian couldn't make his car look good, however, I am saying that most attempts at 'improving' a car are sadly misguided.

If you look at the Golfs for instance - the standards lights still look the best - none of the aftermarket ones look any good - and to be honest neither have any of the Focus ones.

I explained earlier that I am considering a diesel Focus estate. I could bling it out to make it look cooler, but all I'll do is pop some nice Ford 17" wheels on it, and some good tyres, and it'll look grand.

Thats what I'd call a nice change to a car - any amount of painting brakes, adding clear indicators and whatnots make it just look like something it's not...

Back to the original thread - to which he's got me also interested in the things again, he would be silly not to get one - test drive one and you'll never want to drive a wierdly positioned french car again.

Neil tries to be a chav but he's just not bling enough - But the Audi alloys are good, not chav at all, and do not spoil the Golf's looks.

As he says any of these small hatches Punto, Clio, Corsa, blah blah.. if they are 'modified' in any way the end result will be - in most people's eyes - a pile of shite. If you keep it to OEM like Neil says, they look much, much better. That's why you rarely see a TVR without spiders, or another wheel directly marketed towards it...

Try and argue that these look chav:

Mind you, with bigger wheels on, you can't so this quite so well...although doesn't truely demonstrate the level of oversteer I was finding

Here you go:

To be honest, I've always thought the ST170 looked just right (obviously the RS is the nuts) and it wouldn't take much to lift a boggo standard Focus to look like this.

I'd respect that

Edited to add that:

ST170 wheels on Ebay seem to be bloody cheap too...

I see

Quick google, and instantly looks a great improvement on the Chav Tat versions. You could put ST style wheels on it I suppose if you want to be a bit Naff and OEM
(I don't like the ST alloys myself..)
