I didn't last the program before turning off. My rant is on another forum I only lasted as long as I did by calling my wife and son in to see what I was watching. They were as stunned as I was at how appallingly awful it was.

Sometimes not being able to get channel 5 has its perks then! 5th gear should be trying to differ from top gear by covering other motoring topics like motorsport, not just lingering in its shadows like a tagnutt. How can the producers be so short sighted?

I've always viewed 5th gear as pathetic and my opinion has not changed. Plato as far as I am concerned was the only true bit of entertainment. The Maca and Enzo feature was pure joy but spoiled by such crap editing that most people were left thinking what was that all about. VBH needs far more practice in swallowing to help out that deep voice of hers (probably the only use she has) and the rumour was that in the days when tiff was on top gear the reason that he did all the off road stuff was that he always turned up to the studio pissed. What a bunch of w**k*rs

They can never be Top Gear and should give up trying. More cars (and bikes less entertainment please.

After struggling through Fifth Gear I watched Used Car Roadshow on Men & Motors. Quite honestly it was far more interesting.

OH MY GOD!

The last series was not bad at all, this is dire beyond words. A perfect opportunity to shoot Al (I'm not a lefty turned green honest) Gore down in flames and all they did was kiss his arse and then discuss his skin colour after the "interview".

Bye bye 5 gear.

well fcukk me. 9 pages of rants has been sooooooooooo much more interesting than the drivel bestowed upon us all earlier. So its a big what a load of bolllox from the audience then channel 5?

There must have been more info on a digger than a motor in that episode. The only half decent bit was the Golf thingy, which could have been improved upon greatly without Bently doing the piece.

Chip fat, R/C cars, frickin DJing, a stunt plane and an meaningless interview with Al Gore, as has been mentioned many times already, is about as far removed from an entertaining and factual motoring show than I can think of.

Top Gear it will never be, Fifth gear is well, errrrrrrr, not in gear at all judging by all this, putting it politely, negative feedback.

they should of stuck to the one thing they did beter than top gear..........actually talking about cars!

i was starting to get a little tired of top gears stunts and 5th gear was just about watchable as they included something close to a review of normal attainable cars unlike TG.

WHY OH WHY OH WHY try and copy TG but use a 10th of the budget!?!

what was the crushing a car thing about!?!

missed the "entertainment" value of that completely.

Little bit about Al Gore was almost a saving feature but the presenters turned it into a joke by talking about how big he was and his charisma and not the issues raised.

And whats the deal with deciding that a Brazilian built fashion statement/disaster is 'the most desirable car out there at the moment'? Uh how about I decide if I like it and you tell me what it does!?!

oh and 5th gear? please please please please please do not try and save the show by getting the two fat mikes from Pulling Power! you might as well ask for your p45's to sent out in the post!

They should've pitched it as the Top Gear of old - more factual based with attainable cars featured. Instead they've tried to hit the entertainment mark a la Top Gear and failed very badly.

That's a real shame as has already been mentioned in this thread - the end of the last series was good viewing.

I think someone asked earlier, but couldn't find a reply! When is it repeated?

I didnt like much of the last series of 5th gear but most shows had at least 5-10 min section worth watching. Like the MacF1 - Enzo, 997 Turbo etc??

Crumbs, what a load of drivel that was.. It was never 'Top Gear' to start with, but it wasnt half bad before at least. Now its abysmal. The whole thing absolutely reeked of a major budget cut. Even the filming of it was terrible.. Some fluffs in their lines of speech that really should have been done again too. Definitely cringe worthy stuff..
I used to think VBH was a bit of alright too, but she looked rough today. Had eyes like p1ss holes in the snow. And the show did seem to have an abnormally large content of adverts in it to break it up. Or was it to fill in the space where they clearly lacked decent content?

Hammond had damn well get better soon. We've donated a bloody fortune now, and Top Gear wont return until hes better.. We can't be made to tolerate 5th Gear as a substitute!

I cant actually believe that that "program" made it to the stage of being aired. It was appalling, it felt that 3 67 year olds wrote the script who have no fixed abode.

Diabolical, and just emphasises how good the chemistry is on the top gear set. No imitations please.
