Yet, if this evidence does hold up in court, perhaps those of you on your side of the pond could start mounting video cameras on the dash to record those who are inappropriately (and illegally) using lanes. Perhaps a silver lining?

Thats hardly fair, I've been overtaken by 100mph motorbikes and they appear behind you, over take and disappear VERY quickly. Infact I was surprised he saw me.

Try to get the police to use your CCTV evidence of some dick breaking into your house or damaging your property and see what happens. Nothing!

Nobody disputes the blokes a nob, but its a sad state of affairs when HM finest rolleyes are trawling the internet looking for easy targets! This country is a joke!

What about the biker was he keeping up the stereotypes ?

I remember a biker being done for a record illegal speed at the time stating that he didn't look in his mirrors to see anything behind because he didn't expect anyone else to be doing the same speed as he was, so that means he either had the fastest bike in the world or he didn't expect anyone else to be stupid enough to be doing the same speed on a road so he didn't need to look behind

Do you really expect all (muppet) drivers/riders to cnstantly look in their mirrors looking out for these very few total idiots/ muppets ?

Has anyone found a link to the video yet? This guy lives down the road from me and I know the road in question very well, and no there aren't any schools or houses along it. It's a mile and a half long straight stretch of NSL road with fields either side. For some, 120 or so isn't out of the question and is a common occurrence.

There is one junction along the entire straight and I'm assuming the guy overtook across the face of that? I haven't seen any collisions on this road for years, ever since improvements were carried out to that junction, namely blocking off one road turning it into a single T junction instead of a cross roads. Would very much like to see the video.

This is not a first: Italian police about 6 months ago were in the news for prosecuting 2 bikers who did the same thing. They posted videos of themselves on a motorway going a lot faster than 100 MPH. I don't remember exact details but I think one biker's plate was in the video and the other guy was identified by the helmet pattern (!). I don't know how the case ended.

I do not have any regard for idiot drivers, but I have not enough information to judge the people in question. How do we know that the witness was not just scared? Most of us have a friend or a relative (usually a relative of our wife/girlfriend...) who think we are playing with death by going around an empty and dry roundabout at 30mph instead of 10 in a sports car which could do it at twice the speed limit.

The only certain evidence here is a sad sign of our times of how little freedom we have left, including that to attempt to join the organ donor pool.

Sorry, what's the fuss about the above video ?

The guy's an idiot, if only for posting his video (of course it might not have been him on his bike leaving and return to his house ! ? !)

He latter admitted (! so two people are now in the same video !) to being the filling in crossing traffic

Also looks like he MIGHT have cut up some car cars (only might as he, oh no, sorry someone, didn't have a camera facing rearwards)

Your right about joining the donor pool but please not for brains

Thanks for posting the vid!

It struck me that the video makes the road seem alot narrower than it really is, and the report says it was a 30 limit? It's a wide NSL with fields either side. If anyone ever comes to Burnham on sea, it's the 1.5 mile road into Burnham from leaving the motorway roundabout at jnct 22.

If we're talking black and white, then he's exceeded the limit and that's end of story I guess.

But if we're talking real world, and the bike happened to be a police bike then I don't see anything wrong with the riding. Although he overtook across the face of the junction, it all looked controlled and he showed good caution and passed the cars tightly and slowly and could see there was nothing exiting the junction on his right (this overtake would have been bad had he been driving a car I accept, but he wasn't). Not until he leveled with the leading car did he open it up.

I can see how nanny would want him hung drawn and quartered for this, but really his riding is not dangerous. Very stupid to post a video though yes! Hard luck geezer you have my sympathy at least!

yes

On that evidence I really don't see what all the fuss is about, except the guy was silly leaving the shots of leaving and returning to his house in. That said, IMO based on that video the police have been very heavy handed in the way they have treated him as that is pretty everyday riding.

i think the reaction on the burnham-on-sea residents web site may have something to do with him being caught.

Looks like a real bunch of tight lipped nosey bastards which is a shame as b-o-s is lovely, just not as nice as w-s-m...

You probably slept through driving classes, did you? One of the rules they taught was to be frequently checking your rear mirrors so you know what is happening around your car. Well, it doesn't matter when you've got the biggest/heaviest car on the road, I guess...
