Flemke,
Sorry to hear about this.
As we both know, the car will be just fine, & more importantly no personal injuries sustained.
Best wishes,
Mr B.
Cheers, sir.
Why did I read that as you taking the piss in return? hehe I'm sure it wasn't intended that way
confused
I had not intended to take anything. Mr Bridger and I are acquainted apart from here on PH.

???...My apologies if my comment was perhaps misinterpreted by anyone (Silent 1), though i cannot think why? I can assure you my concern for both Flemke personally & the car are genuine & why anyone should think otherwise is beyond me. Thanks for taking the comments as i intended them Flemke.
Mr B.

Oh st what have I done?! I wasn't insinuating either of you were being disingenuous but that if read out of context it could be read so as to look like perhaps flemke had spoken to you offline and had just posted an off the cuff comment on here, banter if you will.

I could not agree more, having being caught in yet another traffic jam on the M1 at J18 on the friday evening whilst en route to Silverstone classic. I was in the CGT & it took almost an hour to do 1 mile, stop start for 20 metres at a time, clutch in/out etc etc. After 15 mins of that i craved my daily semi auto! The point being, what i had hoped would have been a decent run for both the car & myself turned into something more akin to the japanese game show that is called Endurance!
Mr B
No, Mr B, keep up the mystique! Owning supercars is a peerless experience without any downsides that us with 10-year-old V70s should aspire to! wink

It's weird though, I'm absolutely convinced that the roads are terrible compared to even a decade ago and I'm positive it's not my imagination. It's faintly depressing that someone with a CGT probably doesn't find much time or the right conditions to actually use it. I've always, always held the F40 beyond everything else but if I ever did get to own one (unlikely at the price thanks to the speculators - there's a rant for another day) I have a sneaking suspicion it would just become a massive headache.

Good to hear that you (and the others involved) are ok.

Being as the car will be pulled apart soon, will the car stay blue? Or is this the time to change colour?
Not sure about colour status, but that is possible.
Time to get the rattle cans out on the fibre glass scale models. wink
That Dynarod colour, no excuse for people not seeing you coming then wink

Good to hear all ok, damage doesn't look too bad and as you said originally a complete non event had it not been an F1.

Ouch, well least no one was hurt!

Cars can be fixed and its better to have it being driven on the roads and at risk than shoved in some dusty museum, I'm sure your giving yourself a hard time over it but try not to, st happens, and given a bit of time everthing will be fixed up fine.

On the subject of insurance (and clearly you won't want to talk numbers) but Flemke - is your fleet insured as such, with a policy which covers all cars for all drivers (such as Chubb Masterpiece) - or do you insure them individually?

I assume that the F1 has a massive excess??

Sorry to be nosey.

I am extremely glad that this thread has not become 'Flemke - Was that your McLaren? (Vol 1).

Very pleased to hear that you, and the other parties were uninjured and all will be ok smile

Is now an appropriate time for the long awaited colour change?

Do you think this accident will change your willingness to use the car in the future?
Probably not.
The overall driving environment is steadily worsening, so that will affect my willingness to use it. I really wish that I had more insight into the precise factors that brought this about, as that could potentially influence my future actions.
As others have said, good to hear all involved are ok.

I've no idea how sophisticated it is, but is there any possibility that the in-car telemetry might provide further insight into the moments before the incident?

Thats interesting, i was under the impression years ago a lot of wealthy people with large value fleets put a amount into a bond which gave them a sort of self insurance.

am i talking waffle or has anyone else heard this ?

I see this has now reached a wider audience (the Top Gear website), I can't imagine how that would feel... anonymity is indeed undervalued.

I haven't posted for being busy and not wishing to stick my nose in, but glad to see that everyone involved in the incident is well.

Going too fast.
I completely agree with the premise of your post. etc etc.
All fair enough. I think I tend to have a vision of an F1 not going below about 180, hence assupmtions.
