On the subject of insurance (and clearly you won't want to talk numbers) but Flemke - is your fleet insured as such, with a policy which covers all cars for all drivers (such as Chubb Masterpiece) - or do you insure them individually?
I assume that the F1 has a massive excess??
Sorry to be nosey.
Thats interesting, i was under the impression years ago a lot of wealthy people with large value fleets put a amount into a bond which gave them a sort of self insurance.I assume that the F1 has a massive excess??
Sorry to be nosey.
am i talking waffle or has anyone else heard this ?

When my father was in school one of the pupils turned up in a new Aston DB5.
Apparently you could self insure in those days if you had deposits of something like £100K with the Bank of England.
Not sure if you can now though.
Holy carp Flemke, sorry to hear about the accident, I flit in and out of this thread so only just seen it.
Most importantly, glad you are ok and am pleased the damage isn't too extensive and can be repaired.
I'm guessing the damage is only cosmetic due to the nature of how Carbon Fiber dissipates impact forces? or is there any issues with suspension which you can't see in the pictures?

It certainly used to be possible.

It still is - you can register yourself as an insurance company provided you deposit £500k with the Bank of England. When my father was in school one of the pupils turned up in a new Aston DB5.

Useless fact of the day - Suffolk "Safety Cams" Scameras are all self-insured.
Having had a similar low speed impact in my pride and joy (which I like to think of as my flemke-on-a-budget project) I have to express my sympathy. I've managed to make a start on fixing it all, and it will return, better than ever after a nice winter project.
(BTW, mine was caused by someone pulling out of a junction. bd.)

Sorry to hear of that accident and glad there were no injuries to people.
I just thought that I would say in a similar crash to your own, a friend of mine had the police find the other driver (i.e. the one who pulled into lane 3 when it was not safe to do so) and they were charged, and his repair costs were paid for by the insurance from that individual.
I hope that helps you.

Sorry to see such an awesome machine in that state, but glad you and everyone else came out alive.
I had a car pull infront of me on the autobahn, not immediately in front quite like yours luckily, but it certainly gave me a new appreciation for how much distance you need to slow down when travelling fast.
I hope you get it repaired ASAP to your satisfaction.

Flemke - you're alive and well and in one piece and so is everyone else and actually that's ALL that ever matters. EVER.
On a side note, I must agree that the driving environment (my experience is 99% UK) has worsened considerably since I started buying "fast cars" in 2003. Driving standards, road conditions, "revenue-generation-traffic-enforcement," hatred/jealousy, mean its really becoming less and less fun to own these cars IMO. And all the while the supercar manufacturers are upping performance to irrelevant levels and stripping out involvement.
I'm in a privileged position of being able to go out right now and buy some fabulous toys, and really, I can't be bothered after reading things like this. It sounds cocky - it's not meant to be. I honestly think, I'll have more fun in a Clio RS than a 458 and live longer.
Sounds sooo ridiculous but my motoring enthusiasm has been gradually sucked away.....
Flemke - perhaps now it's time to do any further tweaks upgrades that you'd been considering before.
Good luck mate.
