Flemke, as your thoughts are back on colour.
I know previously you were looking for the perfect blue, but after recent events would it make sense to go for a bright "signal" colour, yellow, orange or green!....
As you use the car on the public road, this may make the car even more visible to other road users and potentially safer, assuming they are actually looking for other traffic that is.
I'm not sure that I could live with one of those "Here-I-am!" colours on an F1. They tend to defeat the point of having a beautiful car. It's not inconceivable that a light-coloured, or at least different-coloured, band around the nose, using the front "PU", could look decent and have that function. It could always be wrapped in the more noticeable colour. Or I could always run with the headlamps on.
Personally I'd go for a deep green with a gold fleck. And as you say...turn the lights on.
Edit: I didn't know Mr B was going to suggest it. Honest!

Sorry to read about this - 'in the distance you can see to be clear' doesn't really apply to multi-lane roads and sometimes telepathy just plain lets you down.
I think I might want to change the colour of my car having had it plastered all over the Daily Mail and assorted other media - although I seem to recall from somewhere about 200 pages ago that it's quite a performance. On the other hand losing sleep over choosing a colour might be preferable to losing sleep over trying to figure out what happened.
Flemke, Mr Bridger - I don't suppose either of you were driving a silver CGT down the A359 earlier this summer? I imagine not, but there aren't so many of them around.

Flemke - is it beyond the bounds of possibility that he already knew you'd had an accident from an "alert" triggered by live telemetry? That is to say are all of the cars always "talking" to the factory (lateral g, whereabouts, speed, throttle opening heh heh)
The 'telemetry' in the car is what we would now consider to be very very basic. The car has (as I understand it) an interface that allows you to connect a very old style GSM phone and upload what must be a trivial amount of data (very slowly). There is nothing 'live'.
(I'm not criticising it - back in 1992 it was state of the art, I'm sure)

"Hi, Flemke. Why do I have the feeling that you're not calling me with good news?"
Since your internet fame, is that how you're now known to everyone? A bit like Prince or Madonna?Does your wife call you that now too?!
I did used to have a nickname, but not "Flemke".
You will probably want to limit giving any more information in public. A shame but the way of the modern world.

I have just re-read that article in the Mail. Some numpty has simply written 'too much money, not enough talent' in the comments thread.
What an absolute tw-t. How does he arrive at that conclusion? Oh yeah. I know. Jealousy.
I have never met Flemke & i probably never will however somehow i feel that i do know him if that makes sense. He doesnt strike me as being a boy-racer showing off just because he owns an F1. Or the CGT or whatever else is in his garage.
He is lucky enough to be able to own such a magnificent car & we are lucky that he is prepared to keep us updated as to what is happening with the car.
Flemke doesnt have to do this. He chooses to do so & for that we should be grateful.
Most of us on here would love to own an F1, or a CGT, or an F40, etc etc however most of us probably never will. Am i jealous of Flemke because he owns some stunning cars?
No. I am just grateful that he, & others like him, are happy to share their prized possesions with the likes of me.
Sadly accidents happen. They always will & even the safest most careful drivers can have accidents & there is nothing that you can do to prevent them.
Tabloid journalism at its worst i'm afraid. Whoever wrote the piece has probably just 'lifted' the bulk of the story from PH. Idiot.
Anyway Flemke is unharmed & the F1 will be repaired so that is the important thing. I hope that he remains on PH as this is one of my favourite threads & it is never dull or boring.
Ok. Rant over & this is my last posting for a couple of weeks as i'm off to the sunshine for my hols.
I wonder how many pages will have been written when i get home? Probably far too many to read through so maybe some kind soul will give me an abridged update upon my return.
Good night people & be safe.

Sorry to hear your news flemke, must have been a terrible experience. Sure the guys will have it back together quickly. Have you though about changing bodywork to the high downforce since you replacing front clip (spare one in my garage!)
Re brown race cars, how about my uncles old car,? Chevron b26, the chocolate drop.

Looks great in the original race livery.
Agreed that the metallic brown on the Murci is superb. I don't think it would work on my F1, however, because the colour is a bit too "GT" (as in, "soft").

that's bad luck but as said at least you and everyone else are okay. it's not meant flippantly but it is only a car at the end of the day.
When i saw the pictures it does look like it could have been a goner..see elises with apparently less of an impact (i appreciate a differnet tub!) and they'd been 'written off'...
again not meant flippantly.. but you can go for the colour change now i vote for that metallic brown of the murcielago!
I know the "Chocolate Drop", and considered buying it, but I couldn't deal with the livery. The name's great, but not the paint. that's bad luck but as said at least you and everyone else are okay. it's not meant flippantly but it is only a car at the end of the day.

Hi Flemke,
If a colour change is on the cards at this time, have you considered any various shades of white?
A pure design, a pure colour!
I know its already been done, but i do think this looks sensational.
Mr B

I am normally condescendingly contemptuous of most others' aesthetic choices, but those guys nailed it in this car.
What I would say is that it's a lot easier, in terms of paint, to work with the version with a big wing on the back.
For me, the pure original shape is preferable, as a shape, although it's more difficult to make look really good in paint.

I hope that you and I, and all of us, rely on more than telepathy, although it is true that, on multi-lane roads, some things must be undertaken as articles of faith.

The only good thing about unwanted publicity is that there is such a profusion of it about everything that one's own unwanted publicity is quickly lost in the noise.

I believe that I have written here before of my belief that 90% of the population has below-average intelligence. What an absolute tw-t. How does he arrive at that conclusion? Oh yeah. I know. Jealousy.
Yes, I know that that is a contradiction, but it does often seem that way, doesn't it?
Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that 90% of the population has intelligence that is below what is needed to do what they seek to do.
Even then, it's nobody's fault. One doesn't choose to be stupid. Furthermore, when I was a teenager, I thought and did stupid things the same as everyone else.
So if folks take a shot at me, or at you, we can't let it bother us.
I will share one little anecdote:
A few years ago, I was driving to visit a friend in what I would call suburban London, maybe Putney or Hammersmith or something like that. She's a feisty thing, and very loyal to her friends.
I think she happened to be outside in front of her house with her baby daughter when I approached in my car. It wasn't a super-expensive thing, but it was nice and fairly uncommon and clean and sharp. I drove up and opened the window, she then directed me to drive around the corner onto the side road for some reason. As I started to turn the corner into the side road, coming towards me on the side road was another vehicle. I was going from the main road and thus I had priority. Furthermore, on his side of the side road was a car parked at the kerb, which required that he cross into the oncoming lane of the side road, which I was just entering. Again, for this separate reason, I had priority.
This vehicle had a driver and his sidekick. These guys were gardeners; their truck was pretty much a mobile tip, filthy, with crap hanging off the sides, its moving parts wheezing and groaning.
Anyhow, these guys pulled straight out in front of me, blocking my way although I had the priority for 2 separate reasons. Normally it wouldn't matter, but I was pissed off because what they had done was so blatant and rude. They edged their truck forward, effectively daring me to sit there until their rusting heap began to scratch paint and bend metal. I sat there, daring them to run into me, which would entail a damages claim against them that would not be small. They started cursing and tooting the horn, I shouted back, etc.
My feisty friend comes around the corner, surveys the scene, walks towards these clowns and yells at them, "Hey, there's a reason why he's driving that and you're driving this, asshole!"
Whereupon the distinguished gentleman put his truck into reverse and gave priority to me.
It's a complicated world. With much of the stuff I see written on forums (a huge percentage, actually), I am often reminded of what's been attributed to many, my favourite being Abraham Lincoln:
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

Completely agree."Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
It is very much in line with the Gospel according to Asterix - 'If you are in a meeting and you can't work out who the idiot is, keep your mouth shut.'

Mr F, great to see you are fit and well after this latest episode of your interesting life.
May I suggest a double row of the very brightest LED lights across the nose of your F1,
warning away all and specifically Grey cars, of your very imminent arrival.
Mark.
