BTW: Something Atkinson's car does have - or at least it did prior to the crash - was an aerial just like #020. Pic by Tim Dunlop. >8^) ER

Peloton25 said: Thanks Jamie! Just a note - that "few months ago" mentioned in the text there would have been mid-2011. Here are some of photos of #043 for Red 5. These were taken at the Royal Automobile Club's Midsummer Drive-In last month. First a beauty shot from Sam Truelove on Flickr: This second set comes from Josh Morrewski on Flickr: - - - All thumbnails clickable. >8^) ER That's the one! Thanks for the pictures and info. I just checked my diary and it was 27th june, does that fit the date? I didn't notice the two tone paint as it passed, I was too surprised to see one at all! I though it was headed for the RAC club.

Yes - that was the date. Congrats on spotting it - I'd love to see this one, especially before anyone chooses to alter its original look. Thankfully I believe the current owner's intentions are to keep it as-is for now.

- 020 in the paddock at Silverstone yesterday. I've been fortunate enough to see the car a few times in race paddocks and its owner was on track driving his glorious 246 Dino in his usual committed style.

Great photos - thank you! I joked once about how frequently this one gets photographed next to that motorhome. Great to see the owner is still having a good time with his collection. There's a video on YouTube from the 2008 Silverstone Classic where he talks about his 246 Dino Formula One car and how it is the last of its kind and also the last front-engined car to ever win a Grand Prix. >8^) ER

His 246 is just glorious and he races it well. I have fond memories of the 2008 Monaco Historique when he and Barrie Baxter in the Tec Mec went into battle together. Very special. It's so pleasing that Tony races such a significant Ferrari as intended also that he uses his F1 on the road as intended. These aren't museum pieces and give such pleasure to see out.

Peloton25 said: A short video shot by my friend as he was leaving the petrol station near Silverstone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_qU0y6IwB4Here's another image sent along by a different friend without the distracting aerial. >8^) ER Interesting to see that this car has the little side strake pinstriping that (I seem to recall) Flemke was going to do on his car. It looks really good. With Chevron's close-up photos I can now see why it starts where it does. I had originally thought it was an odd place for the stripe to begin.

I hope he drives it faster than the other old Ferraris get driven at the Historics, most of them (the ferraris, that is - the other cars were being driven properly) were at walking pace this year. Nah, Tony Smith is a proper competitor. My old memory is prone to failure by my recollection of events in 2008 at Monaco is that Joachim Folch and Duncan Dayton fought it out at the front in their Lotus 16s, with Dayton ultimately prevailing. Behind them, Smith and Baxter scrapped for third, though I cannot remember who came out on top. I'll check my photo archive when I get home to see if I have any illuminating shots. While Smith isn't going to be giving Martin Stretton or Rob Hall any sleepless nights, he's a good-level owner/driver. Part of the problem with the old Ferrari Grand Prix cars is that they are rarely raced and lacking the development of their DFV-engined rivals. Since Flavien Marcais stepped back from his BRM, it's rare to see BRM/Matra/Alfa engined car performing miracles either. Having said that, I've not seen Folch campaign his 312T3 yet, but I imagine that would be worth watching... Sorry for the thread digression.
