They seem to have four F1s now. I wonder if they'd give me a price reduction if I bought all four of them.

They have none of those cars.

Black F1 posted here is a picture from Turner Motorsports in Massachusetts back in 2002 of chassis 007. That car has a new and well known owner in Switzerland now who I am sure is all paid up.

16R is the White/Blue FINA car - that hasn't worn that paint scheme since 2005 when it was sold to Australia and the person who acquired it had the factory respray it in Orange.

andy74b owns the LARK GTR they have pictured there - quite certain he is not a seller at the moment.

The orange GTR below is 16R again, in a picture taken when I believe DK Engineering was involved in the sale with mrbridger back in 2006 or 2007. That car belongs to the owner of Dove House Cars as far as I am aware and unlikely to be for sale.

Pretty easy to make a website like that which pulls content from other ads around the web. Easy to keep it updated too, but clearly that isn't happening as all of that is way old news and again, to my knowledge none of those cars are on the market today.

You ever thought of doing a book, Peloton? "The life of the F1, 1995-date"? smile

Lots of people have prodded me to do that, and when I give it some thought I come to the conclusion there are too many gaps still in the history of some of the specific chassis numbers to make it worthwhile.

Additionally, though I have been quite fortunate to see a number of the cars myself and been able to take photos, I'm not the greatest photographer by any stretch so I don't think a lot of mine are "print-worthy". Using other people's content is difficult too as you either have to pay them, or convince them to allow their use. Some photos that would be great to use come from unknown sources so even crediting them would be a challenge, much less obtaining approval.

I really think by the time we reach the point where it could happen they won't be printing books anymore. wink

Q & A in situations like these is great because it generally supplies the specific info someone is looking for or might want to know and you can get away with including an image under 'Fair Use' guidelines most of the time.

I'd buy it, even if the pictures aren't that great. The actual content would be much more interesting. But I do see your point about citing your sources. That'd be nearly impossible with the amount of secrecy that goes along with the knowledge of these cars. Also, Peloton25, I keep trying to ask you this (probably the fifth time and on the third forum), how many F1s came from the factory in McLaren orange? I know all of the LMs came in it, but what about road cars? And which F1s, if any, are painted orange now? I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks

Should not have taken 5 tries to get that answer as it isn't too hard. If you were asking me specifically those previous times I apologize for missing the questions.

There was one road car sprayed in what at the time was referred to as "Historic Orange", and is now called "McLaren Orange" by the Automotive group. This was chassis 071, built for a German customer who still has the car today as far as I am aware. It is also one of the three cars originally produced with High Mirrors like we see on Flemke's car.

As for the LMs, though the original intent was to paint them all in orange which would have meant six more including the Prototype. The Brunei Royal Family were the buyers of three out of the five and instead they had a very awkward Black/Grey design with Yellow/Blue bunting-style graphics around the nose and along the sides applied to a pair of them. That leaves the other four having been sprayed orange from new, so final total was 5 cars.

@Peloton25

Thanks!! It's a shame more weren't painted Historic Orange. XP4's blue and Historic Orange are the most stunning colors I've seen on an F1 in my opinion. I like the silver that most F1s are, but I find it a little too common.

Also, are there any F1s located around the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, etc. area? As far as I know, Herb Chamber's 044 is the closest to me and he's up in Massachusetts, and 014 and 024 may or may not be be in New York, and 038 may or may not be in Connecticut. Obviously I don't need any names if that's too private, especially with how secretive and private most F1 owners are. I'm just wondering because I've yet to see one in person in my life.

Not a chance. I'm sure once they settle up the lawsuit which will probably be shortly on the way, they won't be able to give you change for a cup of coffee.

It's been a while since this thread was last updated, and seeing as I have added these elsewhere, I thought you guys might benefit from them too smile

This car is #028, built 5 cars before Flemke's and is now sold via DK Engineering here in the UK

Has Flemke been here recently anyone?
Do we know if he had a driveor interest I the P1?
He said it was almost too fast for the road when he drove it around the TG track. I will let him disclose if he bought one or not.

RE the Red one.

1) Whose signature is that on the visor?
2) How many miles on the clock?
3) Do we have a ballpark figure for price?

The seat bolster is the most-bumped piece of the leather interior as your ass may sweep it as you maneuver yourself in. I'm sure its going to be OK soon though wink

I think I'd want Murray and Dennis scribble rather than Andretti tbh

re Price. I suppose the better question would be. Was it comparable to others.

i.e It's not the record breaking car at circa $8M/£5M

http://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1997-mclaren-f1/

(why was that one so much more???)

and it's not the park lane car for £2.5M

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/?storyId=18899

Somewhere in between or are they going higher these days?
