I agree he says some silly things some times, but at least he's doing stuff with cars. i don't mind him. I do feel sorry for Ed his mechanic who gets lumbered with loads of work, many hours of labour, then doesn't seem to make anything out of it (or at least get factored into Mike's profits).

Umm......

I hate to tell you but its a TV programme. Therefore I would think that Edd is probably getting paid by the production company who make the programme.

Or maybe he does it all becuase he loves the viewers and wants to educate them..........

I know that. What I really meant was Eds labour was not taken into account when measuring Mike's tiny profits.

Where the BBS RS splits not a factory fitted optional extra?

I so much prefer Mark Evans' series of "A ..... is Born". Reasonably honest and no pretence at any financial payoff at the end.

Likewise, i have a couple of his DVDs too but they are not as detailed (obviously) as 8 x 30 min episodes, still good though. A Racing Car is Born is by far the best!

Not with the wrong offset (or anything else on the early ones). I think the only option on later cars with the flats was chrome (US only?) or winter wheels as an extra.

Question : "Mike Brewer - why's he allowed on the telly?"

Answer : Because James Allen is too busy to do all the necessary damage on his own

On the wheeler dealers show about a Porsche 928. Mike Brewer straight swaps some "nasty" BBS RS301 split rims for some Teledials that needed a refurb. The cheeky chappy then informed the viewer what a great deal he had done while rubbing his hands and saying geezer a lot. Twat!

The guy he did the swap with looked over the moon, as I would be. Well done Mike you got fleeced out of over a £1000 on national television while professing to be an expert.

I was screaming at the TV as I watched that mad

I still am, everytime that tt's on the telly!
Even more amusingly, I know Paul Anderson (he rebuilt the engine in my 928 for me). He told me that Brewer was really pissing him off constantly ringing to get him to help with fixing the car, not turning up for parts when he said he would etc that when Brewer mentioned that he wanted some original teledials instead of the BBS rims, rather than sell them to him for £30 each, Paul made out that they were more valuable and thus he was losing out on the swap (rather than Brewer). Hook, Line and Sinker! Paul then had some nice BBS rims to put on his race-car (he's got a shed full of teledials).

Watched the 325i Estate one the other night.

I just worry that he will do a load of decent jobs, then blow a random £500 fixing something that might cost about £50 to do if you just spend some time searching breakers.

I just don't get the angle sometimes. I'm no expert car mechanic/refurb guy, but I know that if this program is aimed at your average car enthusiast the advice is pretty shady at times.

It is a shame because if they took into account labour, didn't waste money and genuinely did good work, then it'd be nice to seem them making realistic profits by the end.

I think with the BMW they made maybe £50, and they must have spent a good couple of weekends each farting about buying bits and doing work. Arghhhh!

Excellent!! Good to know there wasnt any behind the scenes cash exchanged for them either. Well in Paul!

I think in one episode he talks about being 6'7" and having trouble fitting in some car, can't remember which one, though he does look a bit silly in an MX5, Brewer claims to be 6" but I'm sure he's adding a few inches to his real height.

I missed the end of the 2nd episode! Did they sell it and make any money at all?

I have been watching a few old reruns of Wheeler Dealers, and I have come to the conclusion presenter Mike Brewer doesn't know as much about cars as he thinks he does. In every programme I watch he just seems too constantly drop in the most stupid facts which are just totally wrong. I can't make up my mind if this bloke is just trying to be very annoying, which he is, or is he trying to be funny and see how many changers he can drop in in every programme. Perhaps it is in joke with his co-presenter Ed China, either way Brewer is a complete joke and I don't know how he managed to blag his way on television. But fair play I wouldn't mind doing what he does for a living.

It's light entertainment TV programme about cars.
He found a market and a audience, sure any job will be easier with a two post lift etc.
Working on axle stands, no joy let me tell you done that many times.
Mike and Ed share a passion cars like ourselves.

If it works for them why change it.
There are lots of other cars shows we all have a remote.
Look at old TG last of the summer wine with cars.

Top show, great viewing, Ed China is brilliant.

The only issue I have is Mike buys a car for 10k, spends 3k on bits, Ed China spends 600 man hours doing it up, they sell it for 14k and he calls it a "result"......biggrin

In fairness if you're doing it for fun, it is.

Can't stand the guy, why doesn't he learn to talk properly? He talks like a three year old. Said he had "free fings" to fix and then it would be a "frill" to drive, he shouldn't be on telly talking like that.
