Cheers for that, flemke. I'll drop them a line. As for the fuel tank costs, no worries. If you're talking about it in context with F1 part prices, then I'll just assume it cost enough to cause me to reach for my throat, fall to my knees, make choking noises and 'die' theatrically in front of Chris whilst pawing the air and grabbing his trouser leg.
ah yes. the 'oh christ, loach has booked the hotel rooms plummet' as its known in the trade.

...a little lever somewhere in the cabin to raise the lights?
There is no lever. You just grasp the lamp with your hand and rotate it into position.
Why add weight with a remote mechanism?
I prefer to say that you cup it like a lady's breast.
And it's always intrigued me why he specified a pair of gas struts rather than wire springs. It's the one feature that isn't there for either legal reasons or to enhance the driving experience.

OK. It was fun before; now you're scaring me.
How about at Rocket specific section in the Forums Ted? It would be great to see a home for some discussion of the car etc. I have some workshop photos - Flemke - are you ok with more pictures of your car - I dont want to post without your ok.
The car is a work of art and has a delicacy which the Atom does not. It's much more bespoke it its construction and Luke is a real perfectionist. They deserve to meet their very modest sales target for the car - I've been watching the auctions for years waiting for one to come up - owning a new one will be a dream come true.

I only know of four on this site, only two of whom are regular visitors, so whilst probably the highest owner/poster ratio of any car here, it would be a bit quiet...
An area for "other specialist cars (not catered for elsewhere)" might be an idea, though.
Koen has done a great job with the website, part of the reason for which was that I kept getting asked to provide prospective buyers wiht an owner's view. If Koen can't answer a question, he'll bounce it out to one of the other owners who have made themselves known to him.

Not a problem. Just a question of whether forums like that will work or just look dead because of a relative lack of traffic.
@Atomic: Been looking into adding a forum option to Lccrocket.com, but for some odd reason I can't install them. That's also the reason I havent posted your pics as I'm also trying to install a piccie gallery. Hope to solve that issue later this week.
@HiRich: Thanks for the compliment :-)
Oh and Nick, have you decided on your colour already? The Dutch have claimed Papaya Orange :-)

Whatever happened to the Lightning?
Sounded like a fantastic machine, with that V8 derived from two FZR engines, and Peter Stevens styling. Always thought it was a shame that didn't go anywhere.

There's an interesting Caterham with one of these V8s fitted: www.rst-v8.co.uk/
Very impressive engine
Wow. That is impressive. Nice installation in that Caterham. Anyone know what one of these V8s costs - just out of interest?
More to the point, what does a third of one cost?
I had hardly dared to hope that you'd say that. Who says prayers don't get answered? Just left a message with the 'other one' telling him we need a Caterham.
if you like that guys you should have a look at dp1 sight the guy has put a RST-8 in an attom and also has a very nice custom car he has desined that the 8 will end up in www.dpcars.net/ all in a good read

Koen - still trying to decide on the colour for the body - the chassis will be silver or mid grey. I'm sort of drawn to green for the panels but still looking for inspiration..... excellent news about your ideas for adding a forum and gallery.
atomic, apologies for not replying to your email, but welcome.
There are a couple of traditions:
- Historic "Murray" colours: Papaya, and "West" McLaren colours have been done. The Martini Brabhams (white or Alfa red) are as yet unused.
- Historic national racing colours
I would suggest you consider three Cooper colour schemes, since the styling is based on the late '50s cars:
- Cooper works green: two wide-spaced white stripes. Google Image for "Cooper +Brabham"
- Cooper works blue: As above, but a deep blue
- Rob Walker Racing: The Cooper deep blue but with a white hoop halfway up the nose (GI for "Cooper + Walker". Very famous (used by Moss for some of his greatest victories), and very recognisable to "those that know".
My own view is that the darker colours really require the contrast of a second colour - both for visibility and aesthetics. There are a few green cars already (mine included), but look closely at the blue. There is a very attractive dark blue (darker than the version in Autocar, it has been used at one stage on R018). White detailing works a treat on this colour. If you have any Scottish heritage, you should consider this option carefully.

I think the KTM X-Bow pretty much eclipses anything in this class on every level, especially price. Roll on Feb 08. Steve K
two posts in almost seven years and the best you can do is proclaim the greatness of a car no journalist driven (let alone yourself). how on earth can you suggest this as a basis for the rocket to be overpriced or overrated..?
i have not driven an atom, radical, brooke (been in caterham) but i have at least read about them and so can form some sort of view...
Hmmm£££££££££££££££££££ but very nice.
However, not so many £££££££ and also very nice.
