The Nissan Homy Coach is always worth a giggle. Mainly because it sounds like homo.

Other daft names include the Studebaker Dictator (last seen near the Polish border), the Reliant Rebel (which is just innapropriate) and the Datsun Violet (available in a wide range of colours, but never violet).

Perhaps the Daimler Sovereign was blessed with a prophetic name as most expired on council house driveways in the hands of those who wear such rings, usually supplied by Lizzie Dook.

The Seat Arosa always made me think of a particular ribbed and dotted product in the Durex stable.

The Ssangyong Korando was so called because it's a truncated version of.....

Korea Can Do

No seriously, it was! Korea can do what exactly? Make a really good spaniel tikka masala? Make a car feel like it's 10 years old even though it's just rolled off the production line?

The Ssangyong Chairman is another daft one - it's a nasty looking saloon car very loosely based on an 80s Merc, I can't see many chairmen wanting to own one.

Dacia Duster anyone? Or maybe you'd rather walk.....

The Chinese are by far the best at rubbish car names though
Geely Beauty Leopard
Chery Tiggo
And the best one ever....
The Dongfeng Citroen Fukang, which is actually a lightly warmed over Citroen ZX saloon.

I was about to point out they never did a ZX saloon, as I had one in the 90's... so I did a quick google and low and behold, a ZX saloon!

They did the same with the Citroën C4 for the Chinese market. Bl**dy thing looks like it would dwarf a C5... actually I'd be surprised if it were much smaller than a C6. 'More metal for your money' clearly works over there...

Oh, and they also do a Pug 206 with a Citroën nose grafted to it. Plain weird.

Anything that was named after one extra feature...
Mazda 3 "mp3"
Fiesta "fresh" (yes, a pop out sunroof)
etc

I remember the Fiesta Festival or Fiesta 'fallapart' as we called it.

Any chance of a link to a picture of the ZX saloon? I've Googled for 10 minutes but can't find it.

There wasn't one branded as such - just the aforementioned Dongfeng Fukang...

Are you blind?! Google images - Citroen Fukang - there are loads!

It's basically a ZX wagon with the estatey bit hammered flat.

This is the C4 saloon, or C-Triomphe as it's called in China

You guys remember the VW Polo/Golf Harlequins? hurl

rofl What a crap concept for a car - looked like it had been in lots of crashes and the owner had played 'find a new panel' down at the scrappy.

Apparently they made a one off for an advert, and then people contacted VW to say they wanted one, so they did a limited run! I remember seeing a civic done out in alternate panels the same a few years back at a car dealers- can't recall the name though.

Two shockers are "Gloria" and "Cedric" from Nissan- who thought people would want his and hers cars. They also made a concept called the "Pantry Boy Supreme"

Allegro is a bad one too- means "quick and lively"...
