Euan, you need to take him up sans harness, open the canopy and perform a slow roll, if he thinks that monstosity is acceptable!

Hi Ifor

How's things, chap?

And to think the bloke at work was considering buying a TVR 'S' just the other week...

In retrospect he was probably planning on getting the TVR then bastardising it into an approximate glass-fibre replica of a 1986 Nissan Bluebird...

Why doesn't he look at something like a GTM Libra if he wasnt a vaguely practical rare/kit car?

E.g.: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/197655.htm
Its even a convertible!
That is SO not a Libra.

The Fiat 500 911? Has anyone got a link to that thread or a pic of it?

It's a Spyder which is the soft top version of the Libra. It looks lovely, seldom does a kit manufacturer come up with a car that good looking.

I know its not really a Libra, but I went onto the classifieds and thought a Spyder would appeal more than a Libra as its convertible and he's looking at MX-5's.

'Soft top version of the Libra' is, in my opinion very wide of the mark. What it is is a convertible sportscar from the same manufacturer as the Libra.

I'm racking my brains for a common panel and I think there is just one or two, under the front clam.
The Spyder shape was specifically redesigned by the Libra creator, Richard Oakes, with a softer feel. The front clam is radiussed on it's bottom edge as opposed to the Libra's sharp edge to echo the more rounded rear end, such is the depth of the differences in the design.
In addition the Spyder monococque is heavier to strengthen it's roofless shape and it also can't accomodate the KV6 engine. It has also lost some of the practicality of the Libra in the rear shelf area.

I expect there'll be some rabid Spyder owners along now.....

I think kit cars are great. I'm hopefully selling the porsche soon to get a fisher fury and race it. I just think THAT kit looks terrible. Why have a shit version of an aston when he can have a great version of "pretty looking kit-o-matic"

It's not really a replica now is it? rofl The aston-ish MX5 that is!

And in a bizarre way, I think it is kinda OK. I'd prefer a 1960's esque emulation, italian inspired perhaps.

I know! that's not quite the right shade of red, it's not really rosso corsa, more of a guards red. as that's a porsche colour, I can only assume there's a 997 GT3 under there

That's actually not a bad looking little car! Reminds me of the old Abarth OT sportscars.
