Oh, and they built a huge bike track in hainault. Hardly anyone uses it, they are all still on the roads and parks. Might try and take my car around it, looks like it has some good corners.

It must be also mentioned that over the 70 odd miles, about 50 of which was on main roads the other road users in cars etc were very considerate. It really isn't difficult. I can sit for an hour in most major citys and witness more than 50 cyclists break numerous road laws, London is rife with the mentalists.

But no. 2 cyclists riding 2 abreast taking up the whole lane. When I was at the head of the que I tooted the horn as I went past and the one on the outside yelled and kicked out towards the car I know most are not like this but I do find cyclists very annoying a lot of the time Do you hoot the horn at tractors who aren't driving in the adjacent field instead of on the road? Or maybe you only hoot if they're more vulnerable than you? You probably make rude gestures at women drivers when they annoy you but not strong-looking men? Oh you don't understand...... ok I'll try again there was a que a big one waited several minutes in the big que turned out to be 2 cyclists needlessly riding 2 abreast I tooted my horn suggesting that they might want to ride inline or at least attempt to move over a tad cyclist nearest me went berserk yelled furiously and kicked out towards my car You know if they had just been cycling in line there would be no issue here 2 abreast cycling with an obvious que of 20+ vehicles behind.....d**kface springs to mind

Do other cyclists deserve to be treated with hate because of them? How many car/taxi/van/lorry drivers do you see every day that break road laws? Which of those are most likely to cause accidents? I do not approve of cyclists doing stupid/illegal things but, as an enthusiastic car driver I am far more concerned by other car drivers.

aizvara said: How does that assumption explain your point? Think it through it might catch on! Remove cyclists from city centres, they then take the bus instead of buying cars because they never got the hang of driving which is why they took up cycle commuting in the fist place. Taking the bus means fewer co2's than a car (if you believe all that crap). Buses have more room and therefore (ex) cyclist gets to work quicker and sweet smelling ; might even get a girl friend/ boyfriend. No traffic jams so cars just zip through. See, WIN WIN !!

2 abreast cycling with an obvious que of 20+ vehicles behind.....d**kface springs to mind How exactly does 2 abreast make passing more difficult? Shorter obstacle to pass than 2 in line so actually an easier pass.

You can't usually give the the outside rider enough room as stated in the highway code and spouted out ad infinitum by cyclists themselves. This should be obvious. sorry did I say 2 breasts?

IF you couldn't pass them two abreast because of traffic coming the other way then was there really room to pass them if they were single file?

Percentage wise yes, most cyclists consistantly break every traffic rule they can at every oppotunity, because they are not accountable. Percentage wise, per user, i would say more cyclists on the road cause more accidents than cars. Its the same as with motorcyclists, theres less of them but they make up a higher percentage of casulty for their numbers. If you are cycling to commute, fair enough. If you are doing it for exercise or sport or whatever.. f k off and do it somewhere other that the road, as it is these ones that cause the most hassle riding in their self rightous groups.

2 abreast cycling with an obvious que of 20+ vehicles behind.....d**kface springs to mind no, there wasn't. There may have been a queue, but not a que. Unless you had a waiter from Barcelona up front? Secondly - if YOU can drive properly, legally and follow the rules of the road (specifically, highway code rule 163) then you would give as much room to one cyclist as you would to a car. So there is room for 2 bikes to ride next to each other. But if you can't follow the rules of the road (as above, and also as mentioned in an earlier post, absolute adherence to the speed limits) then you are in no moral position to criticise riders.

This is not the case in the vast majority of roads near where I live and some cyclists will still insist on cycling 2 abreast when it is obvious the driver cannot give the appropriate space.

I thought I was being wickedly witty and showed remarkable insight. You can't make stunning observations these days without someone calling you a troll. So where is your offering?
