I had a 9-3 Aero Sports Saloon also. WORST car I have EVER owned. 12 days in the dealer's hands in 6 months (5 different ones) trying to get varies problems fixed - and some of them never were fixed. More rattles than Mothercare's warehouse. It was the pits. Looked good. But the pits.

This one looks good on paper, an should probably stay on paper. There are better cars to be had out there - and better dealers that may actualy care a toss about the product. Sorry "Saab", but you no longer maker proper Saabs/cars like you used to.

I think so....well overdue IMO too, much as I love Saabs (I've had 3) the FWD is a real joke for high output cars. I did try a 9000fpt with lsd and that was so much better I always wondered why they didn't do it as standard

Agree 100%, whatever happened to Saab? The 90's seem like a bit of a blur for them and since then they have never really recovered. Still, the AWD thingy sounds pretty imperssive, would be nice to see that on more of there cars.

saab have always had there own engines and suspensions, that's what's different from vauxhaul. you can get 300-350bhp from a saab 9-5 engine quite easily. above that it costs serious money and alot swapped out parts.

I'm pretty sure this 2.8 is a Saab/GM shared engine. Not sure where it originated...

It still looks like a cha'r'ved up version of the previous style 9-3 - failing to see how its new in anyway apart from a few mechanicals. Then again the current 9-5 is hardly a step up from the last with both model years being very much identical.

"Inside, the design is a replica of the original 900 Turbo"

I didn't know that the 900 had sat-nav!

Its a shame what's happened to Saab. None of these post GM cars will be regarded as classics ever.

The only bit that looks even vaguely familiar to me are the 3 big switches in the center of the dash. They arn't the same by any means.
If it wasn't for that I'd doubt the person who designed this 'replica' had ever seen a 900T interior.

And even those are in the wrong place - they were in the main dash rather than in the center console (which was nowt more than a storage bin with a DIN-sized holder for accessory gauges or audio gear if you were so inclined, in the old 900).

Apart from the Saabaru (9-2X) and the Chevy Trollblazer aka 9-7X... Could say that this is the first one of their own, though...
Trollblazer?! redface

yes Mind you, the 900 interior was very dated in the late 80s so I can't see modern buyers being impressed with a 30 year old interior design! (good as it might be wink )

I read the other day that the 4wd handling is sooo good that this car goes through a slalom course quicker then the 997tt!

If this is even remotely true then why have Saab said next to nothing about the cars capabilities?

I really don't understand the company any more, they sent me a flyer a few months ago that had the word "sporty" on it about 20 times per page next to some pics of a diesel 9-3 rep wagon but didn't give me a single reason why I would buy the thing over any other car.
