First thoughts I had when looking at that Bugatti was back to my youth and the original Battlestar Galactica series.

However can't decide whether it looks more like the Centurians helmet of a Cylon Interceptor.

I think the fifth gear 'secret bugatti' is the soft top version. You can just about make it out it one shot.
I am not so sure, the roofline looks the same just its covered in plastic.

As VW makes a loss on each Veyron sold im guessing the 5th gear car was some kind of mass market cheaper 220mph Bugatti that they can pitch at Lambo prices and actually make some money on.

Why? It does not need any more performance!!

I am now getting Spam email saying "need a bigger cock? Get a Veyron" They are not even bothering with Viagra.

Didn't Audi do a Aluminum car a while back? Collect the set!
A2 and A8 are both aluminium under the paint.

They did an A8 polished ally show car and there was also the Avus concept which was shown in polished ally.
Hmmm, so why don't they sell their cars 'au naturel'?

I'm sure someone would pay at least twice the price over a regular bug just for the added exclusivity. 400k extra isn't taking the piss anywhere near enough. Just look at the lp640 lambo in Revolting spec - x4 the price just for a dodgy exclusive body kit.

€400,000 for ally bodywork?

I'd want a full carbon fibre bodywork for €400,000... and then paint over it...

Dave
Glad I'm not the only one completely not getting this - I know, we'll downgrade the car, and charge 400k euro's more for it... yeah that'll work rolleyes

Unless they have re-worked the entire structure, they are now dressing a carbon fibre semi monocoque with aluminium panelling.. given carbon is much stronger for given weight than ally, I can only pressume to make it lighter they have also made it considerably less structurally sound?

Sounds like a winner all round with the money>sense brigade.
Compared to what lambo are charging for a reskinned LP640 going by the name of revention or somesuch i'd say bargain

I bet theres already like six of those cruising round in Dubai, it really does look like something an arab would make (no offence intended), he could park it next to his mirage carrera gt (another great supercar that was ruined)
An extra 400000 euros NOT to paint it. They assume rich people are stupid as well as tasteless.

I think fully carbon fibred body with no paint at all and carbon fibre wheels to finish off would be the ultimate incarnation of what is already a pretty awesome bit of kit. And for that sort of money i'd also like hot and cold running totty please wink
Very nice biggrin
Exactly!!, although I could maybe live with this, if that`s not possible biggrin

That was predicted on a small production run, each one of the (80?) would cost VAG 5mil & sell for 1.

There making and selling a lot more of them than that, not sure if they'll break even on them.

I love the aly look (I assume it has some sort of clear coat ontop to keep it nice & fresh?), but hwo can it be 200llbs lighter and have swaped the CF panels for aly?

I love the aloo-minum look. Reminds me of 50's era mercs, or some of the American WW2 fighters polished up. Could go more retro and add the rivets :-)

I assume the saving in weight is simply through the lack of paint. Remember the Silver Arrow Mercs being stripped of paint to get under the required GP weight limit.

I used to have a bare Ally and CF Caterham and it looked fantastic, but was a real pig to keep clean. The thought of trying to clean something with 4 x the body work is frightening.

200lbs, less than 100kg. I wouldn't be surprised. Primer, plus 7-10 coats of paint. It is probably not far shy. Of course I could be wrong.
