200lbs of paint?
200lbs, less than 100kg. I wouldn't be surprised. Primer, plus 7-10 coats of paint. It is probably not far shy. Of course I could be wrong.
Yes you ae, very wrong.

I'd say under 10kg is paint.

You'd feel guilty for getting in it after eating a mars bar.

Oh no I've made it 0.00000003 mph slower now.

This 'report' from Henry Mann is utter garbage, light on any proper information and draws quite stupid conclusions. Whoever allows this rubbish on this site should be dismissed.
To get proper info, I suggest people take a closer look at the Veyron Pur Sang on www.bugatti.com

250mph+ in an aluminium car...i'm thinking plenty of dinks, and being a soft metal i'd assume a nightmare to sort.

Looks nice though..while it's new. An ally kit car at Stoneleigh this year(I think) looked awful. Seemed as though they'd taken a scotch brite to it. Swirled scratches everywhere.

Maybe if all the body panels and cavities were hollow they could fill them with Helium to make it a bit lighter.biggrin Would that work??

Or how about talking to NASA about some of their superlightweight space age materials and making a Veyron from those!! If money is no object with these cars then either of the above must be possible, if they were worth doing that is.

It's obviously an awesome car, but I've never been a fan of those headlights. They look like they belong on a Passat or something. Pinikity I know, but if I was going to spend that sort of money on a car, I'd want everything to be spot on. A superb achievement all the same.

I would have thought closer to 10kg than 100!

If 1 litre of water weighs 1kg then we assume as paint more dense it weighs in at 1.5-2kg(??) per litre.

After the paint has dried the volatile particles has dispersed reducing the overall mass of the dried paint presumably.

So with primer, colour and clear coats their could only be, with a wild guess, 15 litres of paint on the Veyron. So maximum dry weight for a paint job would be circa 30kg.

There is a very good chance this is bcensoreds though

Yeah but would you prefer 30kgs of paint on your Veyron or a stick thin 30kg Kate Moss in the passenger seat. I see your point.
