Nice MG at the straight.
This one is.
Mustangs did pretty well at Spa. Hugenholz won the 6 Hour race in a thundering 350GT. This 3:12s lapper came in 5th in class.
Edit: those Stangs - sorry Phil, can't help it - may look big but compared to nowadays cars they're pretty light. John Felstead explained those mighty Falcons are about 1300 kgs max. and Stangs do about 1150. With a big V8 in they'll fly! Handling is another matter . . .

Hi Dink. The Falcon is lighter than the Mustang, as it is homologated with fibreglass panels. It's homologation weight is very low, below 1000kg but you could never build one that light. I think Ford were playing it ultra safe so they wouldnt have issues with weight on the Monte Carlo rally, which is what the Falcon Sprint was initially built to compete on.
I would expect a good Falcon to be around 1200kg when fitted with the glass doors, bonnet, boot and wings front/rear, Mustangs will be around 1250kg, our Mercury Comet which is fully steel panelled is 1300kg with a splash of fuel onboard.
Any pics of the McLaren doing its stuff?

All on Phil's Mactop. I dumped the pics saturdaynight and will get cd's back. You'll have to wait a short while John. Good to've met again.
Funny, I just mailed the Lola guys about the same story: they must be curious. Some of those snaps turned out rather well.
About the weight: I thought fluids would be about a 100 kgs
Classwin by Gracee right? Good luck on building the CanAm.

A few more pictures while photobucket is agreeing with me
If you can drag your eyes away from the racing you'll notice that Spa is a gorgeous place...
These two made a lot of noise and you had to be quick to get a snap of them...
The pack on the opening lap...
Loads more gems to come when the pesky thing decides to work

Hi John
I vaguely remember hearing that Leo Voyazides' Falcon was about as light as allowed - well under a tonne. LOVE that Mercury Comet!
Dink - I've been through your pictures now. Some AWESOME photos of the sportscar race. Shall I post some up or would you like to see them first? I've got a few nice snaps of my own to put in with them from the sportscar race.

Be my guest Phil, we don't want to wait now do we
Abels 'just' making it.
Cougar thundering.
Mog twins, love 'em in bright colours.
Although this is pretty cool too.
At what speed are they turning in?
The D-type reps weren't that fast. That's why I moved a bit too quick
John: the Spa area is great. I had a weeks holiday twice this year. Plenty of stuff to do. I'm thinking of organising a May trip . . . Driving, drinking and visiting stuff. Trackday included and all that. I'll contact andy and sort it out.

Moody monster-lurking-in-the-dark picture of the Healey at the gearstick incident. Christ Phil that was funny. I'll never forget seeing all the people stopping in their tracks and pointing - you could almost hear them saying "look at that madman" as you shot off at 40mph in reverse !!
The following morning, TC getting his hands dirty (for once ) - this is probably the reason it came to a hault
Last minute checks being carried out on one of the big Vette's...
Phil mounting the bullit cameras...
Red or Green Healey? Hummmmmmmm - i think the Green gets my vote...

Not class win, race win overall. There were two races going on in the same race, as daft as that may sound. Funny, I just mailed the Lola guys about the same story: they must be curious. Some of those snaps turned out rather well.

I'm ploding along on the CanAm, picked up the flu this week so not working at my usual pace, but i'll have it ready in time for next weekend.

Phil Hindley and Bobby Verdon-Roe both did 2:28's at Spa in Challenge Tuscans. My best was a 2:39.
Phil drives like a girl The current Bus Stop must be the slowest of the lot, effectively two very tight hairpins strung together! Can't imagine how the F1 boys get round it...
