o i had mr2s for 4 years, a n/a uk car which was standard, and the turbo version i had, was stock body except ebc, exhaust, dp, ic, very under estimated car and very little knowledge known about them by the average person

Why is it that, in general, people who own chavved Jap cars also tend to have IQs lower than my shoe size?

There are some exceptions, obviously, but I'm going for the sweeping generalisation here.
The problem is Steve you always wade in with criticism every time a Japanese car appears in a thread. I can only assume you are trolling, hoping for a little attention.
Oh come on. Jap cars are shit! wink

I've had a Jap car. My dad had loads.

Mostly they're very dull, even though they may have amazing power outputs and levels of grip.

Nothing turns me off more than a Skyline, which is little more than a real life Playstation game.

Not sure anybody's mentioned it yet or not, but what about the 'Goddess', the Citroen DS. Arguably the most beautiful vehicle ever designed!
I've never understood why everybody raves about the DS, i've always thought it is pig ugly. impressive engineering, yes, striking design, yes, beautiful, no.
The front is stunning, the sides are stunning, the rear is a disaster. You really have to look at other 1950s designs to even comprehend the DS, let alone appreciate just how far ahead of it's time it was. It would be like Ford launching a car that looked like Thunderbird 1 as the Mondeo.
nono The DS is stunning and timeless from every angle, and I'd have one in my lottery garage for those when I wanted to arrive in style, but appear understated.

i think its unfair to generalise..ie all jap cars are boring..all german cars are soulless..all french cars are unreliable......each manufacturer has throughout history produced some gems..sure, manufacturers from differnet countrys do tend to display national characteristics.....but it was those zany germans who helped cement the idea of the thrusting junior executive with the original 2002 turbo, helped invent the hothatch by shoehorning an injected 1600cc engine into their shopping trolley golf and created the ubersaloon way back when by dropping a huge 6.3 v8 into the then s class.....hardly the work of unimaginitive dullards...and the japanese have produced some stunning and innovative cars..even some chgaracterful ones....nsx, toyota gt2000, nissan 240z, mazda cosmo....would anyone call an s2000 dull...i think not......and as for french cars being unreliable...well..mmm..yup, that ones probably right haha...

You can see why too. The Audi has additional visual features to draw ones attention, the Alfa has none, relying purely on it's lines and proportions. Anything 'added' will be, unless retro, contemporary therefor date stamped.
That's probably the most inspired thing I've read in ages on here!

Well, I have one conclusion: PH then as now was evidently full of people who could get into an argument in an empty room. So much for the good old, gentler, days of yesteryear!smile

Walking to work this morning I noticed a couple of 02 plate cars and thought they still looked tidy. Nothing exotic, just a Focus and a 318ti.

Indeed, came across a 2003 thread where TVR people were moaning the new ones were too blobby. Possibly the best looking sportscars ever.
