RE: Now We Can All Be The Stig
Discussion
Interestingly, in this months "What Hi-Fi, Sound & Vision" the PS3 wins Best DVD & HD player £300-£500
1080p
24 frames per second
1.3a HDMI
60Gb hardrive
wireless internet
a Freeview PVR soon
all for £349 now? doesn't sound too bad....
whilst the 360 gets 2/5 for the Elite in black with the HDDVD drive in white...
saying all that, I only want a PS3 for GT5.... but all my mates have 360's and I'm missing some serious online gameplay...
Bit of a coup though? TopGear getting their shows shoved on the biggest driving game in history...

Nice that they are adding more tracks (lets hope you can run the full length and do high-speed bouncy runs) but I wish they'd put in a few decent roads too. Circuit driving in road cars gets boring.
I agree that it'd be brilliant to have some famous road routes on there - say the TT course, Stelvio, that road near Paul Ricard. In fact sod it, make the code accessible, get some maps and digitise a whole area of a country (Exmoor, or something).Problem is they probably wouldn't be allowed because people would 'memorise' a section of road and go out and try to beat their time in the real world, which would be carnage. Fun, but carnage.

Question is, will there be a Suzuki Liana in the car line up?
I hope not the trouble with GT is all the rep mobiles and dull cars, Hot hatches, classic's, super cars yes please, 1.4 corsa other dull stuff like than leave out. waynepixel said:
What I would like to know is where are the Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche?
Played the preview the other day, they've got a Fezza 599 in it which is awesome, they've always had RUF and the like to cover the Porsche angle, not sure about the Lambo though, probably will now because of the Audi link etc, which would probably mean they'd get the Veyron as well. I may well be wrong though.waynepixel said:

Well Ferrari have been available in the game since the GT HD demo (available now with the 599) and the marque will also feature in the full game. Pictures online show at least the 599 & F430 but heard rumours on gaming sites of classics like the Dino and 288GTO also being included. Not sure if Porsche are finally in, but RUF are definately back

Oh and with 900 cars to chose from, I'm sure one of them will be a Liana
Judging by previous form, '900 cars to choose from' will mean 827 variants of Skyline and a smattering of everything else.If GT5 has a mix like GT2 it'll be pretty nice

By 2009 google earth will no doubt be scanning at 10cm to 1 pixel accuracy - link GT5 into that and I'd give up work and play it until the bailiffs come and confiscated the house.Stelvio pass in GT5? oh yes
I recall when GT4 came out. I paid top whack for the PS2 to go with it. I remember playing it in my new Clerkenwell pad, sitting on an empty bare wood floor, with no furniture. Just me, a plasma and the console. Decorating and moving in properly was postponed two weeks until I'd compleated most of it
Will there be a new console out by the time this game is finished? Also will it be cross platform?

The answer is No to both questions. GT5 is being made soley for the PS3 and seeing as Polyphony are owned/part of Sony there is absolutely no chance of cross console migration. Never happened with early versions of the game and certainly wont happen with this one. TIGA84 said:

I may well be wrong though.GT5 has probably delayed due to the competition, It was never a hardcore simulator like they claimed, the PS1,2, possibly 3 can not handle the data needed to do it accurately but it certainly was a good laugh. What made it appealing was the fact you could drive your own car on it but upgrade it etc untill it was good.
What they need to do is take a leaf out of Forza 2 which has embarrased the GT series including the demo they put out. Physics wise, graphics wise, Level of car detail, the fact that downloadable content is out, the upgrading of performance and looks of each car (dont use the incredible paint and design sytem but it it pretty bloody impressive)
But mostly the sound, the sounds of the cars in Forza are excellent whereas the GT series has been terrible, they sound nothing like the real counterparts but all seem to have a high pitch 10,000 rev sound rather than what they really sound like.
Great to get TG involved but next Christmas this could be old news, the advancement of technology, this would be behind everything by then.

Im not too bothered that it is a year or so off at the moment because i cant yet justify paying silly money for the PS3. By then it will be about £5!!
Cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!1
Exactly why I'm waiting for GT5 to come out before I go and buy a PS3. Plus there'll be a few more decent games with it Cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!1

That's what puts me off too. Back when the GT4 came out it was a brand new cutting edge game, with a brand new top flight console. The combo together made it untouchable. Looks like the timing is all screwed to hell on this one.
ps
It seems like Sony are doing an Audi, by releasing their top model (RS4/GT5) right near the end of the platforms's life
