Nice that they are adding more tracks (lets hope you can run the full length and do high-speed bouncy runs) but I wish they'd put in a few decent roads too. Circuit driving in road cars gets boring.
I agree that it'd be brilliant to have some famous road routes on there - say the TT course, Stelvio, that road near Paul Ricard. In fact sod it, make the code accessible, get some maps and digitise a whole area of a country (Exmoor, or something).

Problem is they probably wouldn't be allowed because people would 'memorise' a section of road and go out and try to beat their time in the real world, which would be carnage. Fun, but carnage.
that would be great being able to drive the stelvio pass and other similar passes.

hehe

It is quite comedy really. I have just stopped looking forward to GT releases now. The screen shots all look lovely, but I know I won't get the real deal worth bothering with until I literally see it on the shelves in the shops.

Tis good though, PS3 will be dirty cheap and me having a decent big HDTV by them are pretty good, so all good smile

Gotta admit when I read this a little bit of sex wee came out. Gran Turismo is the single greatest driving game ever (I can't bear any of the others for more than 10 minutes, PGR and Forza included) and Top Gear is, well, Top Gear. Mix the two and I'll never be seen in the pub again. This appears to be one of many reasons to buy a PS3 in 2008/2009 (along with Killzone 2, MGS4, GTA4, the new Wipeout and Getaway games and God of War 3).

Forza who exactly?

ETA - The Ferrari F430 is in a lot of the preview screenshots for GT5, and I've heard very strong rumours the Veyron will also be in there. Now just need to cross fingers on them getting Koenigsegg on board. I fancy a CCXR vs Veyron race biggrin

Back when the GT4 came out it was a brand new cutting edge game, with a brand new top flight console. The combo together made it untouchable. Looks like the timing is all screwed to hell on this one.
No it wasnt, the PS2 came out in 2000 and GT4 was late 2004.

It seems like Sony are doing an Audi, by releasing their top model (RS4/GT5) right near the end of the platforms's life
Again i dont think so, the PS3 will only be 3 years old so long before the PS4 will even be announced and much longer still until the end of its life. Millions of people still play PS2 and that is 8 years old.

Sorry but i'm an Xbox 360/Forza 2 convert

I was a massive fan of GT and indeed i worked at Sony until a couple of years ago. Therefore know a lot of friends with PS3 and i've played on them a fair bit. However, my girlfriend unexpectedly bought me a Xbox360 Elite with Forza 2 and i've got to say both the console and games are awesome.
With stuff like Bioshock and The Orange Box to play as well it hands-down beats anything i've seen on a PS3.

Belting around the Ring in a Porsche 956 in 1080p HD on a 40" Bravia LCD is breathtaking. You can even see the Ring map painted on the side of the Hotel an der Nordschleife next to Breidscheid bridge!eek

GT5 and the PS3 have a LOT of catching up to do.

Well the 360's had an extra year to market so you'd expect it to have a little catching up to do. Remember the PS2 game lineup was pretty barren til GT3 turned up (I remember I had the black monlith at launch, and spent the next 6 months playing Tekken Tag and PSOne games). Anyway I've had a few games on GT:HD, the graphics in that completely blew me away, and that's without the new fully rendered cockpit view. When I played Forza2 it REALLY didn't seem like a generation after GT4 to me. But then the GT games have always looked better than the hardware specs should really allow.
