That's a 365 GTB/4, otherwise known as a "Daytona". Not a 250. There are various cars (some exceptionally rare/cool/expensive) with the 250 nomenclature, but I'm not aware of any of them being referred to as a Daytona.

Not that that makes it any less cool. The 365 GTB/4 Daytona and 250 GTO are my top two fantasy cars.

My old man has had some very cool cars, always been a petrolhead and he used to race a GP Midget (aka Sprint Car) too.

He has had loads of Fiat 500's and we still have a 500C Topolino which he has owned for 35 years. Had a very cool Ford Pop 103E "Sit Up and Beg" One of my favs was a 1.4 MK2 Escort-Orange, Black Vinyl roof and I still remember helping him put on the Castrol GTX Go Faster Stripes which came free with the oil hehe I also remember the Hillman Avenger 1.6 GXL with 4 Speed Auto Box. Turd Brown, Beige Vinyl Roof. Uber cool car. Then a succession of Lancia's-HPE's, Beta's, Y10's. He even had a Pink Beta Coupe Spyder-I hated it because I couldn't see out the back. I was 4 at the time mind you biglaugh

Cars he has owned before I came along: SS100 Jag-had it 3 days and then his old man told him to take it back as there was no room at home for it eek Was offered a Rolls Droptop for £50 as his mate had lost at cards and needed money quick. He was offered his friends Ferrari 246 Dino Targa for £2000 in the 80's (before they went silly) but said no as it might give people the wrong impression if he took a Ferrari to work furious How times change eh?

He currently drives a Lancia Delta Evo 1 bandit at 62 smokin and is currently commuting in a BMW 850 I have at the moment cool

My dad's car history is thus:

Renault 5 GT
Austin Maestro 1.3 City
Rover 416 GSI (such a step up from the Maestro!)
Rover 620 GSI
Rover 620 GSDI
Renault Scenic 1.9 TDI
Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.2 diesel
Nissan Quashquai 2.0 dCI

Not one of those cars was cool really :/

However he would quite like an M-Roadster.

My dad had some fairly hot company cars and also got to borrow a fair few other beauties through his job:

In no particular order....

Company cars...
Lotus Carlton
Vectra MSD 200 (limited run with 200+ BHP based on the Vectra Challenge race car)
Carlton GSi 3000
Calibra 4x4 Turbo (We used this to transport my kart about - must be the fastet kart transporter around!)
Cavalier 4x4 Turbo
Astra GTE
Irmsher Omega Elite (Prototype)

and got to borrow....
Manta Rally Car
Cheverolet Corvette
Nissan 300ZX
Holden HSV
ITV Telethon Carlton GSi 3000 (he was one of the drivers for the ITV Telethon)
Omega Motorway Police Car (Brought this home this several times as the gear ratios and suspension were being tuned for high speed pursuits!)

He also has owned...
Austin Healey MkIII 3000
Lotus Elise 160
Vauxhall Hurlingham
Vuaxhall Cresta Rally Car
Aston Martin DB2/4

Mum also had Morris Minor followed by a Nova GTE in the pearlescent purple that the local joyriders seemed to love!

I suppose i was fairly spoilt in terms of cars but that is why i have grown up obsessed by them.

yes At one point, my parents owned a VW Polo that turned itself off at the lights (intentionally), an Audi V8 (I wonder if any of those survive ?) , and a diesel E-Class estate paperbag Aside from the odd quick Ford, I think the dealers used to get him drunk, the cars of my childhood were tedious Teutonic tanks.

Glad to know there's another out there too!

Dad had a succession of Vauxhall Vivas and Chevettes (no, not the HSR) and was immune to my pleas for Alfasuds, Fiat 128s etc...

At the moment he has a Rover P5B Coupe (in addition to a rather less Cool Skoda Octavia 1..8T) which I love. I think the P5 is probably his coolest car, or maybe one of the 5 Rover P6 3500s he's had in the past.

the series of SD1s were best or kermit the 2cv. Recently had to ask if said parent was having late midlife crisis due to having two 911s - fatboy and non-fatboy versions.

Thanks for clarifying that willdew. It was indeed the 365 and not the 250; he always called it his Daytona. Just wish I knew what had happened to it frown
